I'm contemplating building a custom pedalboard, so I could use some ideas. So....
Let's see your pedalboards!
Guitarbuilder has already has a thread for his; let's share some photos here.
Okay, here goes....I bought this case;
Which you can buy at Rondo music for $50 using this link
http://www.rondomusic.com/pdc410fbk.html (http://www.rondomusic.com/pdc410fbk.html)
All my cables fit inside the box's lid, I just pile them on top of the pedals.
Contents of the pedalboard include:
Front row: ADA MXC footswitch, Quad switch, Boss V-Wah
Back row: Nady 201 wireless, DOD A/B Box, Ibanez TS-9, Boss TU-2
The MXC and Quad switch are color coded:
Red = Solo / Boost
White = Clean patch
Yellow = Dirty patch
Blue = Delay
I know I've discussed this before, but my Quad switch toggles individual FX in my rack (Boss GX-700).
1: delay
2: solo boost (usually done with the EQ)
3: wet (chorus or modulation)
4: wild card (special FX for specific songs: harmonizer, tremolo, whatever)
The A/B switch simply runs the signal from the dedicated instrument cable (going from the wireless into the wah) to a separate instrument cable. That way, if the wireless battery dies during a song, I hit the A/B button and use the cord instead of my wireless pack.
BTW: The pedals in the back row are on top of small pieces of 3/4" plywood, painted black and covered in velcro
This is my current setup.
Crybaby 95q (Robert Keeley "Mello Wah" mod)
TC Electronic Helix Phase
Black Arts Toneworks Black Forest Overdrive (Colorsound Overdriver Clone)
This used to be my mainstay, always on. My MP-1 has rendered it a bit useless, but I still keep it on the board.
MXR Analog Chorus
TC Electronic Flashback X4
Custom Audio Electronics Line Driver
I've got quite the collection of pedals built up so it'll likely change soon, but for now this is what I'm using. I'm still going straight into the amp though, I've not had the time to mess around with putting pedals in the loop yet.
Hey PS91, nice, looks like lots of fun :thumb-up: . You can tell Dante's also a graphic artist, he has more colours LoL

Another Holeyboard! Cool!

Yes, but what does Green mean? :green-banana-smiley-emoticon: :green-banana-smiley-emoticon:
Dante, that Rondo case looks like the cat's banana. I have a case similar to that except the lid doesn't come off to use as a pedalboard. So mine is just for transporting the pedals for now.
I may just make the board I'll need and size it to fit in a,cheap suitcase I can get from a thrift store...
I also made my pedal board myself, although I don't use effect pedals, with me it's all midi.
For my boss pedals I use a behringer case which is also nice, but don't use the behringer cables or supplied adapter.
I made a board to fit into a thrift store suitcase & it served me well for a great many years. I just recently picked up the pedal board case.
Green = Wild card (notice the ???? all over the green one?)
Well, finally decided to just shop a pedalboard and be done with it. ::) I figured that by the time I mess around making one the way I want, then find a suitcase for it.....the PITA and $$ can be saved by just buying one.
So I got this Gator Gator GPBBAK1 (http://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/GPBBAK1) and so far it seems to be just what I need, with a fine carrying case to boot. I have to get some new 90* patch cables now though. The hodgepodge ones I'm currently using are just temporary since I was just spreading my pedals out on the floor for the time being. The Donner isolated power supply works great and is fastened up underneath the pedalboard and out of the way.
Why not???
We're gear addicted people. :banana-dance:
I put a couple of pictures of my main pedalboard and of the little chinese nanoboard...
The first one took me a while to be set-up and a lot of time spent buying, selling, testing, changing and connecting stomps.
Now it's done and it's a keeper.
I just sold the Antarctic White Fuzz (a clone of BJF Arctic White Fuzz) and I've to put in place a TC Electronic Sentry noise gate, but I've no pictures yet because I was testing the Sentry with the MP-1...
The other clone (K19) is a Klon Centaur with a couple of 1960 Mullard diodes for clipping...a blast of an overdrive.
The second one has been a funny challenge: put together a small, complete and cheap pedalboard with all that one needs and very good tones.
I've also a small bunch of other clone pedals around, but they are not for pedalboards and one of them is on sale.
I will keep a very good Zendrive clone and a Klon Centaur clone with 3 different clipping modes.
The other one is a double pedal with BJFs Arctic White Fuzz and Honey Bee with internal 18V voltage, but I don't need it anymore.
Have fun!
Hey Kim, you should ask Guitarbuilder ; he got the nicest pedalboard i have ever seen...
Mine is just a mess :dunno: i should build something more professional
I know, I know - laugh because I still do
But I hard wired these two pedals together and these are all I have used for the last 5 years into the loop of whatever I'm playing. Now it goes from the MP-1. ;D

Excellent! I love the minimalist approach. :thumb-up:

Yeah I only use a gate and a little delay, never anything more - it gets in the way for me ;D
Less is more, Danny

Oh sorry, didn't mean to take off on a tangent :P
But I will check out the new thread - thanks Kim!
No worries Danny, happens all the time
UPDATE: I stripped all the duct tape offa my MPX foot controller. Where I work, we make stickers and decals, etc. So, I took some waste material and simply cut out numbers for my pedal board. I just cut them with scissors, without any template at all, just by using my eye to figure out when to turn/cut/ etc.
So, here's an updated pic. The back row of the pedalboard is my power strip (w/green paint on the available outlets). In front of that is my ol' Nady wireless and an A/B box. Next to the A/B box is my tuner, which is plugged into my wah. That's it.
The A/B box is for when my battery dies in the middle of a gig (it never happens at practice - only gigs). I hit the button on the A/B box and plug the attached cord into my guitar in lieu of the wireless pack. It's a tactical reload of sorts.
Hay Dante, looks great :thumb-up:
Looks like it would very easy to see on a dim lit stage. :thumb-up:
Thats a pretty fancy 4 for someone not using a template.
I'm crafty :thumb-up:
Sometimes.....fancy, not too much tho
Very last (and now one and only) version.
I sold a lot of pedals (I've the little chinese nanoboard and many others no more) and bought other ones.
TC Electronic stuff rule: give to Sentry a try and you'll finally find THE noise gate.
Toneprint programming and editor are priceless.
The Bogner Ecstasy Red is THE DISTORTION pedal: none like it.
A killer, a fist in yo face.
And it cuts through the mix like nothing else: with all those switches and functions, you can really shape your guitar's tone...and then it has that gain and volume boost for solos... :headbanger:
Xotic RC Booster....this is my 7th one now...and it's here to stay forever! A true keeper.
I love this pedalboard.
I still have another 3 pedals to sell and then I will be done.
Well, I had some down time and wanted to redo my pedalboard. Had some wood just laying around here's what I came up with. 2 best features : 1 it's half the weight of my old one and 2 it's about 6 inches shorter.
Nice :thumb-up:
UPDATE:
Just picked up the EHX C9 for my pedalboard. I want to get a A/B switcher (2 Inputs, 1 Out) to toggle between the Mel9 and C9, but for now I have to "double click" between the two when needed. (Click one off and then the other On) I have a really cool Boss Line Selector pedal that would work a treat for this, but I'm 2 patch cords short of that idea and the A/B switcher I'm looking at is about half the size of a Boss stompbox anyway.
Signal Flow:
Guitar > Saturnworks Buffered Splitter -> Morley Tremonti Wah > MP2/rack
L--------> Boss CS3 > EHX C9 > EHX Mel9 > Morley Volume > Crate Powerblock
The EHX "9"s are very touchy on the dynamic levels by themselves...too much IMO. I'd much prefer one consistent Output Level coming out of these. I'm only using the CS3 in an attempt to help even that out some, and I'm still trying to get that dialed in right. I've experimented with having the CS3 before and after the 9 pedals, so far having it before after with high Sustain settings them seems to work better. Other than that personal gripe, these pedals sound fantastic.
Last version.
The Bogner Ecstasy pedals are KILLERS! :headbanger:
Been forever and a day since I last posted! Here's a pic from the first show with the Prince band!
Hey Chip, love the boots, how do you balance on those heels ? Nice PB BTW :thumb-up:
Walk on your tippy toes and you're all good! I have an easier time not tripping over cables when I'm in them than when I'm in sneakers! Everything starts with the A/B box that I bought off eBay, into my TU2, Boss Flanger, Boss CE3 (or 5, I can never remember which one it is), EVH Phase 90, Behringer wah (which I might replace with a 95Q Crybaby because it's rather suckish), all going straight into the MP1, no loop! I'm going to be adding a Mooer pitch box for "When Doves Cry" soon. This was actually my first show with my completed rig and it sounded oh so nice.
:whoohoo!: great to hear my friend :thumb-up:
Latest update on my pedalboard.
Finally got the Saturnworks A/B switch I needed to toggle between the EHX "9" pedals and replaced the Morley Volume with a smaller-footprint Vox Volume. :thumb-up: The pedalboard wiring schematic is linked in my signature.
ISP Impression - Chorus/Flange/Delay/Reverb
MXR Analog Chorus
MXR Custom Comp
TC Electronic Gravy Tri-Chorus (and Rotary)
TC Electronic Flashback II Delay
TC Electronic Hall of Fame II Reverb
Dyno My Roto - Tri-Chorus (and RotoFlange and Rotary)
My poor ass is holding out for a Shiva Audio Devices Lil' Wave Analog Tri-Chorus
The Custom Comp and Gravy are out in front, splitting the signal to my ISP Theta Combo and to my ISP Theta Rack Preamp/Vector 2x12 (essentially another Combo). The Impression is between the Rack Preamp and the Vector. The rest are in the loop of the Combo.

So far, this is the latest iteration of my pedal board...I think...wait ten minutes, it's gonna change....wait, I got rid of the tuner and just use the one in the Nova System's toooner now (see how quick that was?) I should be sure to mention, this doesn't control any of my midi gear, it's the pedal board that feeds my ADA Viper combo

This has been it for the last several months, but it'll be gone by the end of the week when all the pedals go into rack drawers. Just wanted to share how some lunatic bass players roll. :banana-rock:
Holy crap Pos, tap dance the light fantastic LOL... I'm sure it sounds amazing :metal:

Pretty much sums up every pedalboard.
So here's mine for the Update....again.
Pared it down a bit. Found that the Saturnworks Buffered Splitter was actually redundant on this board because the EHX "9" pedals could do that themselves, so that went to the Home stash. Also decided (for now anyway, right?) that the EHX Soul Food wasn't really needed where I had it previously, so it too went to the Home collection. Wait...what? There's empty space on the board? lol Thinking about adding a stomp tuner if I find one I like.

Well it seems I'm one of the few that DOESN'T use pedals ;D well except for my midi pedal.
Your not alone MJMP, the best thing about going rack for me way back when was to just have a midi pedal at my feet and put all the pedals and wall warts out to pasture. But hey each to their own.
Pfew, I thought I was alone in this  ;D
Thanks R, that made my day :thumb-up:
My pleasure my friend  ,
Well... I always struggled with pedalboards.
Mostly I was like Marshall for a long time.
One MIDI switcher (MPC-1) and a wah next to it.
But playing increasingly different gigs with different bands started making me add stuff
to become more versatile tone wise.
I never still to this day have an actual pedalboard.
One of the reasons is that either I have not enough stuff and the other
is that it changes too often.
So I cannot decide on a said pedalboard and build it.
Although I once tried and ordered a custom made aluminium box to house
my dreamland PB after making plans and measuring pedal sizes so I could house them all...
...Well...At least the ones that I would want onboard.
When the box showed up I realized it would be hell to transport it and fit in cars.
It has been used as a double guitar case for plane travel ever since!!
When I go abroad (Like Morocco), my no-pedalboard set-up looks like this:
(https://beta-static.photobucket.com/images/w37/chuckypou/IMG_20171231_041206705.jpg?width=1920&height=1080&fit=bounds) (https://beta.photobucket.com/u/chuckypou/p/a7b4a921-acde-4425-a772-9348f9928199)
While back home it looks like this:
(Usually I have an Digitech XP100 whammy in there too)

I am SO wanting a G-system...saving gig money
UPDATE: And, just like that, a guy is selling a G-system on Craigslist. He is willing to take a tube combo amp + cash! I am IN. WAY. IN.
I got the Gee. It took a week, but I finally have the Wah working and a basic bank of patches. WHOO HOO! I have two gigs this weekend (Friday and Saturday) to try them out. I'm using my MP-1 Classic as the preamp for all the patches, locked on. I have my trusty TS-9 in one loop, and the Tech 21 Flyrig RK5 in another loop. I have two more loops to use and I have plans for one already. The Synth9 pedal (muhuahahaha)
Wait ten minutes, it'll change. I still have the Gee system and love it, but don't love carrying it around. Enter the Boss MS3...and a much smaller pedal board. I'm using the Wah because it has three wahs inside; Classic way, Jimi wah, and Morley wah. It also has a very nice Roto vibe. The expression pedal is for pitch bends, whammy effects and volume.
I'm running it with my Carvin V3m Mini head and a 1x12 cab. The MS3 switches channels in the amp for me. I have 4 patches per guitar and 4 effects that I can trigger on/off in each patch. That gives me a ton of flexibility.
Updated
Change is good!
The pedal board is relatively the same, the amp is different. I still have the Carvin, now matched with a sweet carpet-covered half-stack 2x12 slant cab :thumb-up:
Been using my Peavey Classic 20w head with it's matching 1x12 cab. The cabinet is big enough to be a 2x12, which gives it a big sound, and it's pretty light (one speaker). The speaker is 16 ohms, so the amp really shines at a mere 5w and snarls at 20w. I have plenty of headroom for the stage, we mic the amp for bigger shows/rooms. The last pic has a beer bottle to show you how small this amp really is. 20w of FURY haha.
The pedalboard; The silver box on the left is for switching banks up/down. I really only use one bank (four patches). Again, I can switch up to four different FX in/out of each patch, so I have a lot of options available. The Mojomojo pedal is my 'classic rock' sound, which is a loop on the Boss MS3. The amp does NOT do classic rock, even though it's a Peavey Classic. It sounds HEAVY and it snarls like a Fender twin that's pissed off, which I like.
Side note - I had a Fender Blues DeVille that I typically played with the volume at 1.5, and would kill birds flying by at 3 or 4. It sounded great at 6, but it didn't make any friends onstage.
Anywhays, the Boss MS3 switches channels in the amp, but will not work on the ADA Viper. If it did, I'd be using that for sure. I gotta say though, I am diggin the EL84s in the Peavey. I've always been a 6l6 fan, but these sound kinda 'spongy' and they 'bloom' with gain. I like the feel of it, and find myself making funk faces during solos (like something smells really bad in the room).
FWIW: I was sold on a Hughes & Kettner Tubemeister 36, possibly and 18. Then, I did some research. Here's what made my mind up to try the Peavey - I am extremely pleased with my decision, this thing's the shiznit :poop: The Peavey review starts around 30:30
