Title: Hey Everyone!
Post by: skarkowtsky on April 27, 2021, 09:23:36 AM
Hi There-

My name is John, and I just made it to the club. I've been reading the forum for over a year, and have learned a lot from you guys in the process!

I bought my first MP1 at the beginning of the pandemic. Version 1.38, stock. This past Friday I swapped the JJs that came with it for a pair of NOS Chinese 12AX7s from Doug's Tubes—instant leap in tone, bright, articulate and the MP1 growls. Doug and I both live in NY, so we met in person. He's a very interesting and knowledgeable guy!!

I play originals, heavily inspired by hot-rodded LA 80s metal (instrumental). Super-strats are my preference, though I've owned Les Pauls and vintage Gibson's through Custom Shop ESPs and Jackson's.

Here's a pic of my rack. I keep it fairly simple and period-correct. Top to bottom:
Furman PL Plus
ADA MP1
Roland SRV-2000 Digital Reverb (MIDI)
Roland SRV-2500 Digital Delay (MIDI)
Rane MPE 28 (MIDI
Korg DT1 Tuner
Rane Channel Mixer

Non-MIDI (controlled by MIDI via a Morningstar ML5 Switcher)
Mooer Pitch (set to de-tune, -3 cents, poor man's harmonizer, but works great)
Boss SY1 Synth Pedal (nails those Maiden Somewhere in Time tones)
EHX Silencer.
Not seen is the Maxin OD9 Tube Screamer

All heads into the power section of my Mesa Boogie MK IV, though I'm buying a rack mount power amp in a few months to free up the Boogie.

Any questions or thoughts, fire away!!

John
