 A single coil that reads 8K? It sounds a lot like the X-1 pickup in my 1980 "Strat." That's right about where that one is.

  The DiMarzio Fat Strat pickups are around 13K. I believe they were designed to put more gonads in a Strat bridge position, but I've found they just RIP in the neck and middle position with a humbucker in the bridge and a 500K volume pot. I've had them in the Sonofabeast since 1988.
