I'm really looking forward to some more action with the 3tm. I've never needed much more gain than 10,10 but certainly there is much to learn. Rock on LT, great seeing ya.

I've never needed much more gain than 10,10

I usually have enough gain at 6.0/6.0 or 7.0/7.0 on my no-3TM MP-1 (OK...there's a MDRT inside)...
But I also set a very open eq.

You know, with the original MP-1, I just happened to be screwing around with it one day on the clean tube voice, and I started playing with the OD1 and OD2 controls, i.e. leaving one at around 3.0, and turning up the other until it started breaking up, and I actually got some really wild overdriven tones that I thought sounded pretty darned good. I'm wondering it that still works with the MDRT in it?
Maybe you can give that a try.

Well, I'm working on some "bluesy" tones from my MP-1 in these days....so I'll definitely give that a try!  :thumb-up: >:D
MDRT opens the overall sound and reduces the original compression.
Some creaminess could be missed, but the dynamics improvement is awesome.

I just checked it out Harley. Of course the MP-1 has the full range of tones. I have OD1 @ 3 and OD2 @ 9.5 and it still cranks. The basic rhythm setting for me is 9.5, 9.5 and the volume is 3.5 into the poweramps, which are wide open at 50W and about 1 o'clock on the 100W Mesa. The mic preamps make up the difference and it arrives at a LA-3A comp immediately thereafter.

Never tried a 3TM but have heard them here, and they sound intense.

Try it both ways, IIRC, it was a different sounding OD when I raised the OD1 and kept the OD2 lower, but still interesting. Not quite like the Dist voice, but it got a bit gnarly.

VERY intense! :banana-trip:

I can't speak for trying it out in other amps, but through my ADA rig, it can definitely curl my hair O0

Cheers all! It really does sound smoking, and the tube clean is now a very satisfying "brown sound" channel.

Just got an MP-2 as well, so I need to find a classic and complete the fam now :p
