That's on eof the reasons why I use my Marshall heads as poweramp and I use 2 of them, not just for the stereo but this way I also have a backup if one fails. Must say no problems yet. As for the preamps, I make sure they stay cool with some fans. I've been thinking of that for years now, but never pursued the parts to do it |

Dang GAS attacks!!
I just bought another guitar, the last dang thing I needed....I have too many already, but I apparently have a weakness for small hollowbody guitars. It's an Ibanez AM77t. The t stands for Tremolo, it has an Ibanez branded Bigsby bridge When these came out (around 2006-ish) they were just a test. Well, apparently they failed miserably because they only made them for one year. I played one in a local music store and loved the Bigsby feel...it was a red version, some other year, but still an ES339 sized hollow body and the action was super low. Needless to say, I'll be changing the humbuckers as soon as I get her. They're not expensive, were $550 new, you can find them for $350 when you can find them. I paid $450 with the hardshell case, which seems fair Pix below, the small pic is the one I bought (comes with a hardshell case), the large pic is the best I could find of the Black Nebula paint job |

As for the preamps, I make sure they stay cool with some fans. Maybe that's why I haven't had issues with the preamps. I've been using clip-on fans in the back of the racks for years. This is also why I've wanted to install rack fan panels with a couple of computer type cooling fans in them in the back of the racks. With one fan pulling air into the rack and one drawing air out on the opposite side, it should circulate enough air to help cool the preamps while they are in use. |

So no sound at all? sometimes just the SS clean works which usually means a dead tube board. Now in your case with the solid EQ led I would start at U18 pin7, there should not be any dc there. Pin 7 is the output of the EQ section and also drives the EQ led (through D21,R119 etc..)
If you need some schematics or stuff like that you can always email me. BTW do you have a scope? |
