Sorry I haven't been online this week folks.

We had a bad storm come through here on Monday night and knocked out our power for two days. Internet was out for three days. I've been cleaning up the past few days here, and had to throw out a lot of stuff that got ruined. It's been a mess.

MJMP, thanks for posting the pics. Obviously, I didn't get the chance to pull one of my Classics from a rack. Fortunately, no water damage in the studio room.

Hey Harley. Hope all is well. I'm in westchester New York and storms wreck havoc. Planing on moving and the thought of severe weather will play into it. The south seems so prone to hurricanes and tornados. The north is cold. lol. I bought 2 Studer a827 gold edition 24 track machines that were damaged in storm sandy. They were flooded all the way up to the heads.  Only parts not damaged were the meters. Got both for $3000. They must have been 50k each brand new. Well glad your studio didn't get affected. Gonna try and work on my classic this coming week a bit more. I ordered a op amp that is part of the input area that is a mess. If that doesn't work I'll think about moving forward

Hey Harley, wow sorry to hear that.  I saw on the news that you guys had some really bad weather  .

Hey John, hey great score with the Studers, nice tape machines, hopefully you can get them going again.  Hope the opp amp fixes your unit.

Don't think so about studers. I'm parting out and selling meters separately and hopefully I can repair the heads.  They were sitting in salt water for awhile.  One machine only had 90 hours. K. I'll keep u guys posted.  Thanks

Hey John,

I'm in Akron, Ohio, about 40 miles south of Cleveland. We've been getting a lot of uncharacteristic weather lately, and it's been a major nuisance getting things done outside. We've had power outages before but they only lasted 2-3 hours before getting restored.

Fortunately, my studio room is on the opposite corner of the house from where the water was getting in. There are floor drains in the basement, and even one in one corner of the studio room, but nothing ever made it that far. I do have a dehumidifier running in the basement.

Drove to Indiana last year and passed thru Ohio. Maybe a trip to canton in the future. Would love to get a house with land and a barn for a studio. 👍 how are the winters ?  I was thinking the Carolina's or maybe even tenneseee

Harley Hexxe

The last couple of winters here have been somewhat on the warm side which is unusual this area. Usually, we get a few solid months of freezing weather from January until March. We do get a lot of what they call lake-effect weather here. Canton is 20 miles south of me.

The Carolinas are okay if you are looking inland from Raleigh, but it does get some snowfall closer to the Appalachians. I'm hearing North Carolina is getting stupidly expensive these days and isn't worth it. South Carolina is better in that respect, but it does get pretty humid there. I've been through Tennessee many times of the year and it wasn't too bad in the winter time. Once though, I did get held up there on I-40 when the roads were so icy, you couldn't drive on them. They're not prepared for it when that happens there.

Yeah my wife has relatives near Charleston. Just scared of the hurricanes and water but the climate would be good.  Tired of the winters. Another thing would be the music scene. If I do consider playing out again I would like to be near some nightlife.  K Harley. Today's my 1year wedding anniversary so gotta do the devoted husband thing. Once I get the op amp I'll install and see if it works. Having my doubts though.  K. 👍👍

Happy Anniversary John, and many more.

Best of luck with it. The Classic is much more complicated than the original MP-1 and that's why there have been no successful mods that we know of at the Depot. We can only hope that was a botched repair attempt. It would have been helpful to know what the original symptoms were before the repair attempt.

Have you checked R151? These go bad sometimes in the classic.

Jdm5149

I get 205v at that test point

And I did check it last week. Think it was 180k

Put op amp in and tried to solder back to state that I got it in. No luck. Now no sound. Either gonna remove all parts from that section and look at traces or send it out. I bought a mesa triaxis and a mesa 2:90.  Sounds great but really want to get an ADA also going.  Any suggestions in the states ?

For a Classic, the only one I would send it to would be MJMP
