Just spent the day in the studio - with a mask on

Yup, even during the pandemic, we record. Pretty fun stuff, same studio used by Tesla (we're in their hometown, Sacramento), and a few others. We were there for 8 hours, laying down ONE original tune. Just rough trax for now, all solos are done, several copies in fact.

I need to go back tonight to lay down some 'feedback' noise. All the vocals are going on tonight too. I'll send some pix of the place later

Hey Dante, cool  :thumb-up: , may be hard to do the vocals with a mask on  :dunno: .  How's things with the fires, I see on the news you guys are doing it tough again

Fires are getting under control, all last week the sky was smokey and ash was falling on us. The smoke and ash were from the Fairfield/Vacaville fires only 40 minutes drive up the freeway. The Delta breezes bring that stuff directly into Sacramento from there, so yeah...smokey. Ashy.

I'm not singing - but yeah, masks required all the time.

WOW, the smokey ashy part will also be hard on the singer(s).
Singing can be done behind a full screen I asume, as a mask will restrict the face too much for real performance.

Or will the singer(s) be recording their vocals at their own homes?
Nothing beats MB-1s and MP-1s with MDRTs

Singer is allowed to de-mask for vocal parts, they have to sterilize the room before & after. Crazy stuff.

Here's a more refined mix...not mastered yet...DONT SHARE THIS... :banana-guitar:  :banana-rock:

I am playing my Explorer into my 20w Peavey head (set at 5w), straight in, no effects, nothing but a cord. All the rhythms and the last solo are my guitar. The clean intro, acoustic and the first solo are the other guy (playing a Line6). I had a whole other part written behind the chorus, but the 'producer' chopped it & told me to hit those power chords instead.

Gonna check this out SOON!!

We are practising with masks on.  It's a pain in the ass since I have asthma.  Weird but also getting used to it.  I don't think it's my fellow band mates I need to worry about though, it's the assholes outside who are flat out socialising in bars doing crazy things.

Not sure when we are going to get this track mastered....haven't even spoken to the singer lately, except to plan for some Acoustic gigs...
