Must I really change all those to get it more quite? My Mp-2 just arrived and it's really noisy
Start with replacing R913.

No Worries Will, it's been added to the list of Mods (for now)
I can see (by MJMP's donations) I'm going to be splitting things up a but as we continue to grow the vault. Which is cool :thumb-up:
I think i mailed it all,let me know should you be missing something.
I also have some original blue prints of the mp-1 case and all other stuff.
Hi dante
Power supply scheme for MP1 is not available as it is directing to the JacksMP1 scheme.
Can you fix this? I'm trying to replace the transformer, so I wonder the power supply scheme will fit my needs,
MM of thxs for keeping ADA rock the world!
Having looked at the schematics of the MP1, MB1 and more closely at the MP2 I recommend that any ADA product user buys the best power filter / surge suppressor they can to avoid unwanted power surges doing nasty things. This needs to feed a powerboard with the connections to the rest of your gear. I have some backyard suggestions if you are located in areas subject to a lot of lightning but the best idea is to unplug everything from the wall when you are not using it.
Not wanting to be the bearer of less than positive news but unfortunately a few of the chips that are in the MP2s do not appear to be manufactured by the original manufacturer and this may make future repairs significantly time consuming whilst alternative replacements are sought. There may be alternatives (like the power mosfet debacle by Toshiba) where chinese manufacturers launched alternatives however some of the chips are quite specialised. Perhaps a second unit may be an alternative.
If anyone in the service industry has details of suitable replacements it might be worthwhile posting these in this section.
If I have motivation in the coming months I may have a look more closely and have a search of alternatives if there are no helpful replies.
Cheers all.
Hey John, this post (http://adadepot.com/index.php?topic=311.15) if you haven't seen it is quite interesting, replacing all the opp amps.
I've found my MP2 and to some extent my old MP1 are not fond of generators, they go space monkeys in the middle of a solo etc and the only fix is boot them. I now use an UPS (1 kva uniteruptable power supply) which isolates me somewhat (go with a de-coupled UPS). I went the ups way because they are cheaper (albeit heavier) than a decent power conditioner, down side is the battery goes off over time, upside, they are probably as good if not better than most power conditioners and heaps cheaper (I paid ~$160 AUD) (shit loads around as everyone has to have one now for their home office....)
I have a good supply of all the obsolete chips in the mp-2,so no worries
Good work MJ
I also discovered some of the aircraft parts suppliers still have stock of the electronically controlled resistors as well
As far as UPS goes, i work for a large health organisation that has about 1000 sites and a coverage area of 1/3 continental united states and the one thing we learned quickly is that most smaller ups need a surge suppressor on the input. We use 3KvA filters that are a bit large for this application but unless you are using a $500.00 1KvA ups it is just as susceptible to risk
(On the neat side is once we started putting filters and ups in surge susceptible areas that we uncovered all sorts of other hardware issues hidden by crapy power. )
Dante, great job with this section!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Appreciate the time and effort.
Thanks buddy, glad you like it. I hope it is a valuable resource for folks seeking out this info :thumb-up:
It seems there's no mention of the 3TM in the mods page. Why is that?
Really, no reply??
Sorry didn't see your post... For now most of the 3TM mod stuff is in the MP1 section IIRC, but there's bits all around depending on what's being chatted about (lots of posts though). The schematics mods section is developing, we have what we have so far, and happy to add more, and happy to add a 3TM section (although MJMP would be better suited to do that).
rnolan:
Thank you for the heads up!
No worries :thumb-up:
Yes a description and a photo of the board would be nice.
But if anyone of has ever bought your Board from Hairston or Marshall you will clearly read " THIS DOCUMENTATION IS NOT FOR INTERNET REPOST NOR IS THE SCHEMATICS"

Diggin through some old boxes, I found an old CD containing all the Microtube 200 schematics!!!! I have added them to the main listing of the vault (http://adadepot.com/index.php?topic=148.msg580#msg580) accordingly.
Dante you should make a thread like this with the PDFs of the manuals too.

Go Dante :thumb-up: , and I made it sticky and locked so it doesn't get surrounded with posts like the mod and schematics, Dante we need to fix that but I can't work out how to move an individual post, topics sure but not a post within a topic
Is there a mod that expands or adjusts the EQ?
Take a look at the mod3.666 there is a section on modifying the EQ.
What does the acronym HDRM on the preamp schematic mean?
I have searched the net but cannot find it.

Looks like it either stands for High Data Rate Multiplexer (a digital data splitter) or Hold Down and Release Mechanism. My guess is it is the latter and it is referring to a connection to the front panel membrane.
HDRMs are the signal monitor points that go the clip LEDs on the front panel. Probably short for Headroom. :thumb-up:
Thanks !
FYI: I added a bunch of MP-1 Classic schematics yesterday (thank you Sparker!!)

Still more MB-1
Or here it is in one pdf file.Let's hope now that Robbhell won't bitchslap me anymore. :'(
Hi folks, where can I find the schematic diagram for the Mp1 V1 and V2 main board. I have looked at the PCB layouts that are here but I would like to have the actual MP1 schematic as I would like to study it to see whats connected to what. It would be really nice to see it if that would be possible.
I'm sorry folks, but is the schematic here somewhere on the forum that I have mistakenly overlooked and not looked hard enough for or maybe I'm getting old :)
Thanks in advance folks.
Hey Rusty, the MP1 schematics are here (http://adadepot.com/index.php?topic=148.45). What we don't have is a nice diagram of the signal flow through the MP1 like on page 3 of the MP2 manual which is very useful from a gain structure patching sense (better/more useful for what connects to what). I did ask MJMP if he'd do one for us (as he knows the MP1 backwards/forwards and sideways LoL) quite a while ago. Hopefully this post my jog him to do it ? (please  ).

Ahhh,,, I think I need new glasses. Thats what I was looking to see. I will take a good look at both the MP1 & MP2 schematics. If MJMP could do something like that I think it would be an awsome schematic to have and the man would deserve a gold medal and the Nobel peace prize together.
I do know that it would be quite an undertaking to start from scratch laying out the schematic on a electronic software package, plus given that the MP1 has the track on both sides of the board it would make it double the chore.
I use a couple of electronic design software packages for my own little projects. I used LTspice for several simulation models and I think that it's an excellent powerful little piece of software thats free to download. Another package that I use from time to time is National Instruments Multisim and Ultiboard. I was educated on that one and I use it seldomly to test out my little circuits.
I could 'possibly' give MJMP a hand to lay out the schematic depending on which software package he uses, some of the spice variants are compatible with one another I think. But if he knows that board inside/outside/upside down then he's light years ahead.
Thanks for that rnolan, much, much appreciated.
Why would you like to redraw the schematic?

I was thinking something along the line that rnolan suggested and was thinking to make a more compact consice signal flow diagram of the audio signal path only leaving out the digital control blocks. Your right though, its all there after having a proper look through the scematic that you kindly posted up.
I probably got too far ahead of myself with that post as I didn't get a decent look at that scematic. ::)
The schematic is quite good, try to compare that with the MB-1 schematic, now that's a mess.
Maybe have a look at page 2 of the MP2 User Manual "Signal Flow" diagram. This is what I was suggesting would be useful for MP1/Classic/3TM etc. This diagram is very useful for patching, gain structure etc, it's not a "under the hood" diagram as such, but desalinates where you can come and go. E.g. when I thought to use the MP2 cab sims with an MP1, you can clearly see that by coming in the MP2 FX returns (ie MP1 A/B out > MP2 FX rtns A/B), and after that you pick up (in the MP2, If you wanted ?) Tremolo, Stereo Volume CC, Room eq (this is very useful BTW), Output level and then cab sims (I recommend the 2 x 12 setting)). Reading this page helped/set me to test this scenario. Which worked a treat :thumb-up:
@MJMP, so not really a schematic, just a signal flow diagram of MP1/classic/3TM? (not sure 3TM would differ from MP1 in this context) and MB1 would be really useful.
Digging through some old files on my server, I've found some more schematics and instructions for the MP-2 that aren't listed here. Enjoy!
...more
...and some more
...and even more
...you guessed it, more!
...and the last few ;D
Cool :thumb-up: and many thanks  . Need to get Dante to copy them to the link area...
Thanks a lot...more work for me :hair-out:
LOL, you're welcome. >:D
DONE. You'll notice a much longer list of schematics for the MP-2 in the Vault (http://adadepot.com/index.php?topic=148.0) now
I also found some schematics for the MXC controller, I'll get those in here too
I was looking through some old stuff and found some pics with notes about MOD3.1
Remember that the MOD3 needs to be done first before applying this revision.
Cool, thanks Kim :thumb-up:
WOW found everything I need right here!!
So a quick question those in the know - to do "just" the mid scoop mod on the MOD3.666 basically I could just change out R151 with the new value couldn't I?
I'm loving the fact that it says you could go from -12 to around -30!! :headbanger:
I'd be happy with around -14 or -16 ;D

Yeah for sure ;D I just need a little less than what is available to drop now.
I'm gonna do this mod, just need to see where exactly this set of components are on my board for the mid EQ section. :D
Where is the battery clip mod?
This is for the MP1, the MP2 battery is vertical. Also this will erase all patches, so you'll have to reload the factory presets into RAM (from the EPROM) and reprogram any other patches.
Hey guys sorry for posting this.
Is there a Mod for the MP1 effects loop section?
I thought I saw it last time in the Old forum last time.
Is this what you are after ?
Hi Dante, the link for ADA-MP-1-Classic-PCBD-assembly is broken. Just letting you know so you can check it out, and I take this opportunity to greet you again.
My apologies!
Thanks for finding that, the link is fixed HERE's a COPY FOR YOU (http://adadepot.com/mods/ADA-MP1-Classic-Schematics/ADA-MP-1-Classic-PCBD-assembly.pdf)
Does anyone know if schematics are available for DM-2 and DS-4 pedals? Also, does anyone know if the cable is a special cable? I seen to remember my old cables, when I had the 2FX and Digitizer 4, as being stereo cables (TRS), but maybe I am way off on this.
Any help is greatly appreciated.
The cable is a TRS like all the other footswitch controllers.
I found a file for the DM-2, and I'll attach that here.
MJMP might have the schematic for the DS-4, but he's been MIA lately.
I have some schematics for 2FX, Digitiser 4, FS2, S1000, TFX4, D1280 & D640. But not DM-2 and DS-4 unless they also have a different name ?
I don't have ether one....yet, checked all my stuff
I will add them to the vault if/when i get them tho
Just a suggestion,
You might want to check the schematics for the machines they control to see if they're included.
I just attached a link in a reply for the 2FX because MJMP replied to someone else looking for a DM-2 schematic and that was what he attached to his reply.
What is/are the DM-2 and DS-4? If they relate to the schematics I have I'll check if they are included with those. E.g. I have 6 schematics for the 2FX and 7 test bench procedures
The DM-2 is a 4 button foot controller for the 2FX. I have one
The DS-4 is a 4 button foot controller for the Digitizer 4. I have one of those too.
