Hey everyone! As promised I made up a quick video (which is over twenty minutes long...) going through the pedal on clean, dirtier clean, even dirtier clean, dirty, and some other settings that I toss around with a lot.

Comments are appreciated!

MarshallJMP:
Sounds good,to me you seem to have a bluesy sound or am i wrong?

jarrodthebobo:
A bit heheh. I started learning guitar when I was highly into black sabbath and took tony iommi in as my greatest influence. All my improv kind of sticks to the bluesy side of the guitar, as iommi was strongly influenced by blues. This can be both a good and a bad thing really, but id love to be able to break out of this 'blues' box im stuck in!!

rnolan:
Go Jarrod, nice van hallen man.... Here's some extensions to your average blues box (if you haven't tripped over them before):
E|---------------------------5-7-8-|
B|---------------------5-7-8-------|
G|----------------4-5-7------------|
D|-----------4-5-7-----------------|
A|------3-5-7----------------------|
E|-3-5-7---------------------------|
It's a movable major scale (G above) but minor pentatonic if you play it over A etc (so bottom E 5th fret = key), it will help you move from the basic blues box (BTW all notes in between are valid particularly as passing notes)
Check out this clip (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sIr9nZ4aJfo), I play the 3rd guitar solo (MP1/Alesis quadverb/ IPS33 smart Shift/B200s stereo quad box) and also most of the guitar backing (3/4 G minor blues), I've never heard the original of this song so all the backing guitar I wrote.  To use above scale, transpose the pattern 5th fret to 3rd etc (i.e. G minor pentatonic (F major moveable but over Gm))

jarrodthebobo:
Well it's not like I only use one scale haha! I just tend to usually stick to the typical Pentatonic/ Blues scale as it's what I'm most comfortable with most of the time... I also got the minor/Aelion scale down and was trying to learn the Major scale but I just can't memorize it for some reason.

I just have trouble memorizing all the different positions up and down the neck and it takes a bit. Most of the time I just play what sounds good in whatever I'm usually playing (as my ear is pretty OKAY*).

Pretty good, digging the solo  :thumb-up:
