Title: hello, a grandpa among you
Post by: Thorgen on June 02, 2021, 01:26:31 AM
Hello everybody, I'm Marc, 63 years old, french (so, please, be kind with my english  :) ).
I have owned an MP1 (with 3TM) in the past, but I sold it to buy another amp (as every guitarist, I'm looking for THE sound).
But recently, I wanted to come back to racks systems, and naturally, I bought another MP1.
My poweramp is a Mesa 20/20, and my main cabinet are a 4x12 Nameofsoud (french brand) and a DIY 2x12. I also built two thiele evm12l, but they are not my favorite.

over the years I have accumulated plenty of gear, but actually, my favorite guitars are a Hamer Californian and a Kramer Stagemaster.

I play a kind of Folk Metal (and my daughter is the violonist in the band, what is really cool)

Welcome to the Depot, Marc!

I love the Mesa 20/20 amp - nobody thinks they have enough power, but...yeah.

Oh, and...I'm 55 currently, so if I had kids...they'd probably have kids now too ;) My little sister just became a gramma, so I'm a great uncle now.

Hello,
thank you for your welcome messages.
and, the body ages, but the head remains young  ;)

about the Mesa 20/20 : I had the 50/50 and the 20/20 at the same time, and I sold the 50/50.
But I made the deep mod on the 20/20

I was playing a gig and some kid (probably 25 years old) asked me about my amp....when he saw the rack, he said "classic"

I never really thought of it as a classic rig, but yeah, I guess so  :P

That would make me feel like a fossil. (not really)

When younger guitar players look at my racks, the first two words out of their mouths are usually "Holy Shit!"

When they say "Holy shit", is it a criticism or astonishment ?

I received some little things that I started to install   ;) :

Hey Marc,

For all I know it could be a bit of both  Seriously though, that exclamation is usually followed with a flood of questions such as; "How does it work, How did you figure it out, How do you keep track of it all, and usually ends with " How does it sound?"

After a demo of playing through it, there's a lot of grinning going on. (Except from my neighbors, but I keep them in check by threatening to learn the bag pipes through this rig). ;D

Hello everybody,
it was too hard for me to unsolder all thiese components. So I gave the MP1 to a friend of mine who is a technicain. All was quickly done, and my MP1 works perfectly. I'm looking forward to play with the band  :metal:

I'll play like this a fiew weeks, and perhaps I'll install te 3TM : I have had an MP1 3TM in the past, and Ifound it excellent. But I hesitate because I've dicovered the clean tube, and I know the clean tube disappears when 3TM is done
