Marshall Mod Shop Has Gone Dark
« on: Time Format »

Hi All;

It seems MJMP’s website has gone dark.  Is the server just offline, is he switching providers and DNS hasn’t caught up yet, or is something more serious going on?  Has anybody heard from Philippe in the last day?  My last email from him was Friday.  Does anyone know if he is OK?

I got an email from him on Friday, but nothing since, which isn't unusual...yet

I sent him a quick message to see if all is well, will report back my findings if he doesn't post in here first ;)

On a whim, I thought I’d “whois” his domain to see if the registration had expired.  It apparently expires soon, but hasn’t yet, so DNS is good for now, even though his site is offline.  Not sure why someone would voluntarily take a website offline to change providers or to do a redesign (if that’s what’s happening).  I guess we’ll see if the domain name is still valid on the 9th.

All is ok, domain has been paid for and I'm switching from provider and something went wrong.

Just called for my domain name and all is ok. Now getting the rest in order, probably my fault, I'm a noob in these things.

OK, now we’re in my area of expertise…  :)  There’s likely a DNS issue, where it still points to your old provider’s server.  Sort of like having a wrong number published in the phone book.  Talk to your provider, and make sure they change DNS to reflect the IP of the server that hosts your “new” website.  Also make sure your domain registration contains the addresses of the new nameservers.  It takes up to 24 or so hours for a DNS change to replicate all over the world, so be patient.

Well good news is it's back up  :thumb-up: , there is a little clean up to do however, some of the click/button/links need to updated but that shouldn't be too hard to do.
