Title: Tube Supplies Affected
Post by: Kim on March 13, 2022, 08:44:10 AM
Admin Note:  While this Forum does not allow Political discussions, please do not interpret this post as "insensitive" or "apathetic" in any way to everyone involved in the current situation in Eastern Europe.

Due to the current situations going on  :'( in Eastern Europe, Ukraine, and Russia we can probably expect that prices for tubes will increase dramatically, and availability will also decrease.  Some Brands have already stopped taking any new orders, and there may be very substantial delays in both Manufacturing and Distribution.
As a reminder of where our vacuum tubes are actually manufactured these days:

Thanks Kim, by chance I just bought 6 New Sensor Mullard 12AX7 long plates. COVID has also had a big affect on shipping times and expense

Yeah, kind of saw this one coming.   There was already a delay/shortage due to loss of China (are they rebuilding?)

I managed to at least get one set of spares a couple weeks ago.  But, I also picked up a Fractal FM3, which is sad.   I really love my amp, but sadly, I now am going to save it for more special occasions rather than daily use.  I might be being a bit paranoid there, the tubes in it could last 10 years, but oh well.

Good thing I have some spares around. It seems prices are also going up from suppliers that still have stock.

Yep, I figured this would happen as soon as Russia moved into Ukraine.

I have a couple of spare Mullards around, but I've ordered more, and the price went up again.
