Any ideas why my Quad switch ain't workin?

Here's the story: I use my quad switch to turn some effects on/off in my Boss GX-700 while using my MP-1 Classic for all the amp voicing. I picked up another GX-700 recently and today I did a midi dump into the new unit. (what a great feature that is). Now, my quad switch doesn't switch anything on/off anymore. Not in either unit. wtf?

I have changed absolutely nothing as far as settings, it just no workie. I tried rebooting, and the settings all appear to be correct in the GX-700. What gives?

I can live without the quad switch, but it sure makes my life easier....I have a gig this weekend, so I may just revert to the combo amp for that.

Hey Dante, bummer  :( , so the difference is you did a midi dump from one boss thingy to the other (allegedly same/equal) now it's all tits up (midi CC wise) ?, I'm sure your way ahead of me here but first thing I'd look at is CC assignment check (have the dumps defaulted CC assignments ? does that matter (probably?) i.e. they may not be transferred, but both units affected... depends on how the dump works..).  I'd proffer that a midi dump doesn't include CC assignments (as not all midi units handle CC), they "may" have defaulted, and you might have to reprogram the CC assignments (in both bossy units).

Did you try the midi monitor in the MP-2?

Do the leds go on on the quad when you push the switches?

I have not tried the Midi Monitor, i will do that this evening.

WAIT...UPDATE: It is working with my original GX-700, not with the new one. I checked all the midi settings, they're fine, i think the unit is just busticated - it won't see the CC program changes...oh well, it's a backup unit.

Sounds like a MIDI channel problem?  Did you try another foot controller with the GX-700?

So...during my troubleshooting, I took the Quad switch apart. I found that the input jack has a small PCB on the back of it, and that it had turned a bit the last time I tightened up the nut on the jack. It had turned enough that the small PCB on the back of the jack was touching the large PCB that controls the Quad switch. I can't confirm that it was making any kind of connection, but I put a piece of electrical tape between the two to be safe and tightened up the jack while holding the tiny PCB straight.

When I put the box back together, the Quad switch works fine in my original GX-700. It still is not working in the one I just picked up recently. I'm assuming the second GX-700 is broken, but I want to try a few more things before I give up.

My midi channels are set the same, my id numbers are the same, etc. etc. Each patch has the correct CC commands to turn individual FX on/off, but for some reason, they're not receiving the message from the switch. There has to be a setting in there somewhere that I'm not finding (yet)

I fiddled with that 2nd unit for a loooong time last night, and read the entire manual. As far as I can tell, it's broken.

All my settings match from one machine to the other, I tried multiple variations of running the midi cable IN / THRU the 2nd unit to see if that has any effect at all - it doesn't. The 1st unit turns the FX on/off just fine every time, regardless of where the midi cable originates.

So, I think I will try using the quad switch to turn features on/off in the MP-2 for that rig. I won't be able to switch the delay on/off by itself, but I can turn all the FX on/off...that might work. The MP-2 still has a decent chorus, compressor, and a wah that I can control with the Quad switch. I should be able to get through a gig like that.

Yeah, all the other features work except the CC commands. It won't even recognize the CC pedal for the wah.

The MP-2 saw all the messages as I stepped on the corresponding buttons of the Quad switch. Also sees the Wah pedal movement, but I can't seem to get the wah switch to show me a value. Maybe that's correct.

Here's the strangest part; NOW IT'S WORKING!  :amaze: The FX unit is responding just fine, FX are turning on/off as they should  :whoohoo!: 

Here's why: I may have had the midi cable connected like this; [MP-2 Midi OUT >> FX Midi IN] rather than [MP-2 Midi THRU >> FX Midi IN]

Well glad that worked out fine.As for the wah switch,do you use an original ADA swell pedal.If so did you set up the MXC correctly?
