Time to “unmod” my 3.666 MP-1
« on: Time Format »

Now that I have my second MP-1 working, I actually like the sound of it more than the first one I bought (which it was determined had had the 3.666 mod done to it).  The unmodded one has more “shimmer” and a top-end that’s much more pleasing to my ear.  So, I’m about to “un-mod” the 3.666, and put it back to a stock configuration.  All of the parts have been aquired.  Wish me luck.  :)

Good luck  :thumb-up: , I'm sure it will be fine.  There was also some discussion re original transformer vs MDRT as the MDRT opens up the dynamic quite a bit and I spose you loose a little of the creaminess... IIRC Systematic Chaos preferred the original vs MDRT.

Shouldn’t be too difficult; just follow the 3.666 mod instructions backwards.  LOL.  Well, almost.  I disconnected the larger shielded wires between the tube board and the main board, but with all of the rotating forward and back, four of the other purple wires broke off.  Murphy’s Law strikes again.  :)  Keeping track of one or two would have been fine, but because there are four, I’m not exactly sure which one goes where.  They seem to be labelled on the main board, but not on the tube board.  After work, I’ll have to open up my other MP-1 to see where they go.

Annendum - i found a photo of the bridge wires in the schematics section.  On it after work…  :)

Success!!!  And I didn’t even have to bug MJMP.  :)  It’s back to (I think) “stock” specs and sounds terrific!  Much rockin’ out will ensue.
