Yes. What do you have in mind? Do you know what's wrong with my 3TM mod MP-1 preamp? Do you have a diagram for me?

Nothing else has been done to it.

  Hey MarshallJMP,

If I send it out to you in Belgium, can you fix the issue? I can't find a tech here in California that would know how to fix it and Todd Langner passed away a few years ago.

Is there anyone in the northern California area that can fix the problem with my 3TM mod MP-1 preamp or do I need to send it to someone here who can fix it?

Hey guys,

I brought my 3TM mod MP-1 preamp to my amp tech. He told me tested it and there's an issue with the MIDI board which makes it shut off after being turned on for a period of time. Any recommendation on where to find a MIDI board?

  Hey rnolan,

I had the 3TM mod MP-1 preamp mounted in a rack and connected to a Furman PL-Plus power conditioner when the preamp decided to power off/power on by itself.

Hey MarshallJMP,

I'll post a few pictures later on. I remember buying this preamp off of kurtstuff about 10 years ago. Do you think that I would need to replace the lithium battery?

  Hey rnolan,

No, it doesn't have the MDRT transformer.

Hey MarshallJMP,

It does have the original transformer. Is there anything that I can try to do that will fix the issue? Replace the transformer? Contact ADA? They're back in business and will do repairs for their gear.

  Hey guys,

I had to use my ADA Depot 3TM mod MP-1 preamp as a backup rig for my Marshall 6101 combo amp since I didn't properly repair the speaker cable.  :(  I turned on the preamp and while I played it onstage, it turned off and then turned itself back on again while playing onstage. Very embarassing to say the least. I was like "WTF?!!"  How would l fix this problem? Any information or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Original MP-1 / Re: Power amps for the MP-1
« on: Time Format »
I currently own a Mesa Boogie Strategy 400, a Mosvalve 982 (1 space version, 80 watts per side or 160 watts mono bridged), and a Mosvalve 942 (250 watts per side or 360 watts mono). I used to own the Mesa Boogie 20/20 Dynawatt power amp. It sounded great, but I always felt it was lacking in volume. Having used the stock MP-1, then the 3TM modded MP-1 preamps for many years, from gig experience, the tube power amps have more compression and sag that gives the preamp a nice organic tone. The liquid sustain that I get when I play on my 3TM mod MP-1 preamps when playing a crunchy rhythm or a nice lead part in full stereo puts a smile on my face! I also like the Mosvalve power amps for their reliability & lighter weight, but am not 100% on the tone though. I prefer the Mosvalve power amps for a wet/dry/wet or wet/dry set up to amplify the wet signal coming from an amp or preamp.

  Hey rnolan,

I haven't been on this website for awhile. Sorry about the pictures. Let me try to post an active link again.

I own 2 ADA Depot 3TM modded MP-1 preamps. These preamps, IME, sound best with a great sounding stereo tube power amp or the Mosvalve stereo power amps. I have owned the Mesa Boogie 20/20 (sold) & Strategy 400 power amps and Mosvalve MV 942 (single space, 160 watt version) and MV 982 (500 watt version) power amps. For compression and sustain, I felt that both of the Mesa Boogie power amps gave the MP-1 preamps that awesome tube tone and feel that makes the notes sing, especially when the volume is set somewhat loud and positioned in a sweet spot. Both of the Mosvalve power amps gave the preamps a tighter tone, heavier bottom when pushed for loud volume, portable, and more reliable.

Original MP-1 / Re: New ADA Mods
« on: Time Format »
Wow! I haven't been on this website for awhile, but that was an interesting way to start a thread and make friends on this website.  :poop:  I still have both of my 3TM "Ultra" modded MP-1 preamps that HB did for me 10 years ago and they're still in use to this day in my live rig as a back up rig and in my home studio for direct recording.

I could have bought any other brand of preamps, but stuck with my tried and true modded ADA preamps. HB, MarshallJMP, Jur, and a few other people from this forum have been kind enough to provide technical support at a time when ADA was out of business and people were selling their stock MP-1 preamps for cheap money due to needing improvements, technical issues, lack of manuals/diagrams, or lack of parts. I hope this forum will keep going so people who are interested in any of the ADA gear will know how to find parts, repair it, and make good music with it.

  Hey jarrodthebobo,

I have a Mesa Boogie Strategy 400 power amp that I'm thinking about parting with. PM me and we can discuss details.

I want to sell the Laney amp to finance another gear purchase.
