Title: going from MP-1 loop send to poweramp?
Post by: El Chiguete on July 30, 2014, 11:23:39 AM
So I was looking at the ¨How should I run my MP-1 in Stereo...¨ thread and I got this idea: is there no problem on going from the MP-1 loop send to power amp? I meen no ¨tone¨ difference than from going from the MP-1 outs to the power amp? If not, then I can use this to try a W/D/W setup by going dry out the loop send and the use the normal outs to go to my rack stereo effects processor

This will work but you will loose the chorus and the front vol pot won't work anymore, that is you can't use it to control the volume.

Very Cool to know this.

A really nice mini  WDW rig  also good to have a low volume monitor onstage but feed the PA  an effected
cab sim  signal  (  a  Two Notes  CAB  etc. ).

Depends, MJMP is the loop send always on or only when selected in the patch and thus rtn is always on ? or do they both toggle ?

The send always works,in or out.

So when loop = in, rtn breaks direct/bypass, i.e. (if nothing plugged in to loop rtrn and loop in (in patch)) no signal to A/B output ? If send is "always" on, it can't be any other way ?
Thus El, wet/dry patch you are chasing, if you take the loop send as your dry (and it will be, and also MP1 output vol control (not in circuit)/wont effect).
If you are chaining FX after MP1 A/B outs (for your wet sound) they will work with loop out, and dry to whatever... i.e. loop send (on always) will always be on. I suspect this will sound quite good though, let us know  :thumb-up:

I just did some tests and the loop send is allways active and you don't need to have it back on the return to have sound coming out of the MP-1 outs.

Also I connected my multi-effects in and out in the loop and the preamp sound is allways there, just that when I switche from ¨IN¨ and ¨OUT¨ I noticed a volume drop because the signal from the multi-effects output was low, and when I turned it back up it was ok. So you can play with the loop level of the MP-1 and the out level of whatever you have connected in there to match the signal level.

I now just have to get 2 more cabs for the wets and either fix my Microtube 100 or get another stereo power amp to test the full W/D/W. I think it could be a good setup because you can set the overall signal and Dry volume with the Master Gain of the MP-1 and set the level of the Wet cabs with the Level knob! :)

Now I'm curius to know something, if the loop is IN and you don't have nothing in the recieve jack does that meen that the Loop in the MP-1 is in parallel?

The MP1 loop is serial, so if there is always signal on the loop send (regardless of loop on/off setting), the loop on/off toggles between the loop return (on) or direct signal (off) (so loop on selects the loop return jack and breaks the direct signal path), and with loop return on and nothing plugged into it, the signal should stop there so nothing at the A/B outs.
