Running in the loop would be like running after a distortion pedal (all be it the MP1 input is much better  >:D ).  It will work either before or after gain stage, but will sound different. And as most wah units are instrument level, the gain structure is better if it's before the input.  The MP1 loop level adjusts between instrument and line level, but as the loop is serial, this mean you've dropped the signal from line level to instrument level and then boost back again to line level on the loop return (not ideal gain structure IMHO).
But give it a try and let us know the results  :thumb-up: It might be just the sound your after ?

I run it in front of the pre for the typical wah effects.  If I'm looking to use the wah as a full-time filter on the distorted tones, I will place it in the loop.

I run my wah in front of everything (which forces me to run two extra cables out to the front of the stage - just for the wah  :hair-out: )

I stopped using my GX-700 for a wah because it really only had one good voice. My Boss V-Wah has a lot more flexibility and is just plain easier to use. Oh yeah, and I got it cheap & it weighs 2 pounds.

Hey Dante, 2 pounds (that's less than your car weighs, yes ? LOL). Do you use the MP2 wah ?, I run mine on triggered partly coz it's easier (for the few times I use it) and I don't have 2 CC pedals for the MXC.
Note though, the wah is after the compressor but before the tube stage of the MP2, so in front. And no pesky cables
