Title: ADA batteries???
Post by: DannyjoeCarter on December 30, 2016, 12:58:38 PM
Hey Folks have a look at this - will these batteries work for any of the ADA products?
They are dirt cheap! Just bought this package for 99 cents.

Let me know Folks  :D

You can use them since they have the correct voltage, but you need to find a correct battery holder for these. Also these battery's are quite thin, so you need to find the correct battery holder for them.

OK outstanding! I wasn't sure they would work or how available or how expensive they are they are other places.
If anyone needs a pack I will send it to them, no problem  :thumb-up:

Hey DjC, go with CR2032 batteries, they probably cost the same and they are more common and fit into the commonly available battery holders.

DJC, I have to agree with RN .The CR2032 are the most common battery's you can find.

OK will do guys, thanks for the update!  :thumb-up:

Does the battery hold the preset memory and how long can those last?

The presets are stored in a 64kb RAM chip and the battery keeps the RAM under voltage when the power is switched off.

Well there are still MP-1 with their original battery, so they can keep it very long.

OK thank you sharing that MarshallJMP   :thumb-up:
My best friends that I have been playing for the last few weeks, he bought his ADA in November of 87' and it is all still stock from the factory - and sounds great as well as being in mint condition! So yeah I guess those batteries can last a crazy long time!  :o

The original battery's are a bit bigger so they last longer.Downside is they a bit harder to find  and they are to big to  put in a battery holder (the holder will be to big and won't fit).

Based on experience here I'd say your friends battery will need changing soon.  If he has any presets he wants to keep, wright them down (now!).  When the battery gets too low (less than 2.7v) they will disappear into the bit bucket.  Easiest solution IMO is buy a couple of battery mod kits (and some v2.01 EPROMS) from MJMP.
