A "new" tune
« on: Time Format »

Well yeah...

It's a "new" tune because I just finished tracking it today.
But I wrote that bitch some 15 years ago at the very least.
It was first intended to be played on guitar...But I finally opted to do it on violin.  >:D
So I used my new DualKlonz amp from Joyo on the JCM800 setting.
Sounds quite good if you ask me.  :thumb-up:
What d'ya think?

I think I feel the pain in that song. It sounds like a Satriani tune until the solo, then it's a mind f*** because I hear guitar and violin, which is nice. I have a song like that - hard to play - took a long time to be able to sing it without choking up. This song feels like that.

damn onions

BTW: yer guitar looks f'ed up

Reading your replies, no matter what they are, is always a delight.
You're a funny man.
By that I mean you are funny looking.
Or one might say f'ed up if using your lingo.

On a violin, every single left hand finger is a Floyd Rose by itself!!  :banana-rock:

Sounds great, sometimes I could swear I hear a wah pedal sound, although I'm pretty sure you didn't use a wah.

No wah at all. The violin goes straight into the amp. It doesn't get more naked than this. I added delay/reverb after the fact. The great thing about violin is that you have control over the note/sound at all times with a combination of finger pressure and bow pressure/position...So you can keep messing with the envelope of the sound while staying on a note. Very expressive.

Hey Chuck

Well yeah...It's not too common nowadays but actually that idea was applied during the renaissance, in the baroque days.
There was an instrument called the "viol" which had 6 strings, was played with a bow and had frets.

...
Nothing new under the sun.

As far as frets, it won't save you bad intonation while playing with a bow.
Somehow you hear the note where your finger lands, not the fret position...So you have to hit
the top of the fret with your fingertip, not behind it like a guitar.
Frets act normally when you play pizzicato (Strumming the string with a finger from the bow hand).

It's more of a visual aid when starting a line on high notes...And helps a bit doing double stops on the low strings
and get those chords in tune.
But I could play just about the same shit on a fretless violin...
I actually own a few standard violins and some 5 string electrics...All fretless.
