Hello from Massachusetts!
« on: Time Format »

Hello there everyone! My name is Jarrod, and Ah've been an ADA user for the past year and a half. My ADA mp-1 has been the heart of my rig ever since ah've gotten it, and although ah've had some problems with it from time to time, it's always been my baby.

Ah've been lurking this forum for a long while, but finally decided to join up with it and help contribute/learn more about ADA as a whole.

Looking forward to meeting ya'll (And ah see some familiar faces from the Kramer Forum already, hahah!) :banana-dance:

Hey Jarrod Welcome Dude! I am a "Newb" myself to the Board just joining last week. It's a Killer Site with some very good Dudes & some Awesome Tech/Info Etc! I am a Total Metal Head myself (ALWAYS chasing that 80's M-e-t-a-l Tone/Sound which by the way I am almost achieving with my MP-1  :thumb-up:) You have some sweet gear! How do you like your 482 with your MP-1? I have a 362 (have not hooked it up yet) but with the "Crispness" Etc of the BBE I really feel that it will add alot to the Sound/Tone Etc of the MP-1. Anyway Buddy Take It Easy & Talk to ya....Steve \m/  :metal:

The BBE does definately help me get a bit closer to the tones that come out of my favorite generation of guitar tones, which is of course the 80s hiar-esque tones alla Vitto Bratta, Nuno, Lynch, etc. You just can't over-use/crank the knobs on the bbe, as too much of the process function makes the amp sound very sterile and digital sounding, and too much of the Lo contour knob makes the amp sound way too heavy in the low bass frequencies, and thus a bit muddy. With the process around the 1-2 mark, and the Lo contour around eleven o clock, it really helps the ADA mp-1 come to life a bit more, for me at least! It pulls the higher frequencies and lower frequencies out a bit further ah guess you can say, pronouncing them a bit more, which gives the ADA a more scooped sound, but not super scooped like a mesa! This definitely helps me at least, as ah have a bit of the problems with 500hz and 1khz mid range frequencies with the MP-1 units, as they have a whole lot of mids on tap, especially in the lower mid range to mid mid range, and the settings Ah use, include having those mids well up there (at 6 actually). Ah typically take about -5db off of 500hz and 1000hz on my 10 band eq, boost 2k by about 1db, and boost 250hz by 2db. Ah then adjusted the BBE to taste, and ah'm very very close to the tones ah've been chasing, and ah don't even have a decent power amp yet!

Got a carvin ts100 coming in soon though, so that's gonna be great!

Yeah as far as the BBE goes I know what you mean when you say "You just can't over-use/crank the knobs on the BBE, as too much of the process function makes the amp sound very sterile and digital sounding, and too much of the Lo contour knob makes the amp sound way too heavy in the low bass frequencies, and thus a bit muddy". I have used mine before & experienced the same thing...I just have not hooked it up with my MP-1 yet. As far an E.Q. goes all I can say is I have a MXR Vintage (Blue) 6 Band & MAN IT MAKES A DIFFERENCE!  I think I am close to my 80's Metal sound with just my MP-1 & then with some adjustments from my 6 band & BOOM.....I am in M-E-T-A-L Heaven Dude! (LOL!) \m/
