Which cabinets do you use?

I just bought new Behringer Ultrastack BG 412S 400 watt (maybe Jensen speakers?) for 225 eur and seems very nice sounding to me, very broad and deep soundstage structure; just right for my death metal taste :) I have Randall 412 with Celestion Seventy 80 speakers too.

I always liked the design of those cabs - the top two speakers panned out about 30 degrees, while the bottom two point straight out. They're heavy as hell too.

I did try one out a little while ago, but resisted buying it. There was no negligible difference between the 4x12 and my two 1x12 cabs, so I kept the smaller of the two.

I run a two cab setup.  One is an Egnater Tourmaster 2X12 kept open back and the other is a vintage Acoustic 466 2/12 slant closed back.  Luckily the setup sounds great because I stumbled into both of them at cheap prices.  Also gives me a nice blend to fill out my sound a bit at both ends of the spectrum. 

I have a Red Star Audio Blackjack 4X12 cabinet that I pair with my rack.  They aren't made any more but this is a very deep and clear cabinet.  I use a lot of deep, throbbing modulation and this cab will not fart out.

I use the ADA SplitStack 2x12 cabs loaded with WGS speakers. Veteran 30's up top and ET-65s in the bottom. I like the added depth of the cabs... they provide quite a bit more woof than you would normally associate with a 2x12 cab. They look like a full slant top 4x12 cab when placed side by side, but they're a heck of a lot lighter to lug around. I usually space them out so that effects sound bigger. Chorus and reverb sound huge through a stereo rig with the speakers spaced apart.  :metal:

For recording I use an old Genz Benz 112 with a V30.  I still use my old Avatar 212, loaded with Celestion G12H30s, for gigging.

I use a Crown XLS1000 Power Amp with Peavey TL-1 PA Speakers for both my ADA and Rockman heads.  I find that the extended flat frequency response allows for much better tonality and control in the preamps.

Hey GuitarBuilder, I used to use a Rockman X100 split across 2 Marshalls and a Tom Schultz power soak for my 1972 Marshall 50 (no master vol  :( ), great sound but very compressed, I never got to try the rack versions.

I have 2 speaker setups, 2 ADA split stacks with Boogie 90w Celestians (4 ohm cabs to match ADA B220s).  I picked up a single ADA split stack a while ago and modified it to be either mono (8 ohms) or stereo (2 x 16 ohms) which is convenient (only 1 box to lug).  My Carvin TS100 power amp has 16, 8 and 4 ohm taps so works well with the 16 ohm 70 w Celestians.

Ibanez hey Dude hows it going? How do you like your Ultrastack? I know they can be bought for some Killer prices (at least from what I have seen on G/Center Etc?) As long as the Speakers work for you & the M-E-T-A-L Dude that's all that matters! (LOL) Either way seems to be a popular Cab. Do they achieve that heavy "Chug/Chug-Thump" Etc for Metal?  :metal: I use Randall gear & love there 80's stuff! I have a Matching 80's RG100ES Full Stack (my own little Tribute for Brother Dime (may he R.I.P.) with (2) 4X12 Jaguar loaded cabs! The RES-80 Jags (made for Randall back in the day by Eminence) sound Killer & produce a Sweet "Chug/Chug" perfect for that Metal Riff! Along with these (through a great Trade) I picked up a Peavey XXL Slant 4x12 it came with the Zebra RG100ES that Randall did for C.C. Deville of Poison...kind of a "Package Deal" If I told you what I got it for you wouldn't believe me anyway so I will just leave it @ that! (LOL!) Sometimes putting forth that little bit of "extra" & searching you can find some great gear! It's out there just waiting for us to find it Dude! Anyway Best of luck to you Buddy! Ah use two cabs most of the time at the moment, a Bugera 4x12 slant cab (My first cab, and it actually sounds pretty decent. The speakers inside are supposed to be clones of the Celestion V30s from what Ah was told but, ah honestly have no idea  :facepalm:), but they seem to have a more scooped midrange and extended bass/treble... and then there is a mid 80s Marshall 4x12 1960 slant cab, with Celestion g12-75s. Thing was beat to shit when Ah picked it up at a local music go round, and someone ripped off the grill cloth and replaced it with some ugly ass chicken wire. Ended up painting said chicken wire black and she looks decent now, but sounds great! Very heavy on the midrange and upper frequencies! Have the two running together in mono, as ah don't really don't do anything in stereo.

What exactly is the benifit of stereo? Ah am running two cabs together in mono so Ah assumed the effect would be they same as stereo just without the ability to have a wet and dry at teh same time, haha!

Going stereo makes a huge difference, apart from stereo effects (chorus, delay, reverb) sounding much much better, it's a big improvement even without the effects element.  Also you can get a nice fattening of the sound by turning the chorus depth to 100 and leave the rate 0.0.  This adds a nice short (chorus length (eg 20 ms)) delay to one channel, sounds awesome (I do this routinely to every patch that doesn't need the ADA chorus).  Try it and see what you think, I'll be very surprised if you are not totally pleased with the result.

I have an old marshall with greenback ('74 i think). Sound amazing but i don't use it enough. Thinking of selling or putting the speaker in a custom 2x12 solid oak cab that i am building right now (yes pictures will follow when I am done)

Great thread!  I am using a Port City OS212.  I'd prefer a nice 4x12, but my back couldn't take moving one around any more.  The OS 212 is a compromise on size and weight with not much compromise on sound, so it's worked out pretty well.  I've gone through a number of different speaker combinations, and what I've landed on (for now ;)) is a Hellatone 60L (version of Celestion V30 with exetnded bass range made specially for Marshall Mode 4 cabs) and a Scumback M75-LHDC (suppose to be similar to Celestion G1265).  Seems essentially what Rodney_g is using, and sounds great!
