Currently I'm using an old ADA Digitizer 4 and a Lexicon MX-200 in loop and an Ibanez UE400 and AD202 in front of my MP-1.  I can do everything but a wah/filter with this setup.  Unfortunately I have not played live in a long time so I couldn't tell you how that goes over.  I just know that it sounds great at home and on the one time that I have recorded with it.
Hey Kawai just wondering...how does your Digitizer 4 sound with your MP-1? You like it or ? On the other hand.....WOW some of you Guys have some AWESOME RIGS!!! Very nice gear for sure!! Very cool to see how popular & how many use the MP-1 & keep it alive today!! Thanks! Steve \m/

I personally like the Digitizer in the MP-1 effects loop.  I think MJMP mentioned earlier about how it has great chorus sounds, and that it does.  The Digitizer has a bright edge to it, or at least mine does, which works very well with the MP-1's strengths IMHO.  I really dig it, it has a unique character that endears me to it.  Just to give you an idea, my rig has one of the "Holy Grail" delays in the Ibanez AD202 (which I LOVE) already connected in and I STILL use the Digitizer more, and not just because of its relative versatility.  I would give it a go given the opportunity Mr. RandallRG.

And to add on to MJMP's and Kim's point on the BBE debate, i used to use an Aphex Aural Exciter (with Big Bottom) with my guitar rigs (its the equivalent to the BBE).  I found that my sound got broader and more defined, but less punchy.  I would rather go with more amp headroom if the opportunity presents itself than go the BBE route.  It works in certain situations but not all.  On the other hand, it is perfect for modern bass, so it is practically welded to my main bass amp.

Ah typically use my mp-1 straight out of the output into a bbe maximizer set on less than one on the process, and about noon for the lo contour. This runs into an old peavey ten band eq with a small cut in the 500 and 1k bands, and a small boost to the lower frequencies. Some high hiss frequencies are also cut. This runs into an alesis quadraverb set for a big plate verb and small amount of detuning. This runs into a tc alter ego on the tape echo preset, with three echos at about 500ms. Finally ah have a rocktron hush II to help eliminate the hiss.  Up front ah just switch in a few different ods and ah have a boss ns2 and a modded phase 90.

Hows the exciter vs the bbe btw?

I should mention that I have never tried the BBEs for any length of time so I cannot give you the most informed opinion between it and the Aphex units.  I can tell you that they go about their business in slightly different ways to reach a similar result.  The Aphex is a bit more pronounced at the extremes.

Hey Dude well I got very lucky & I found a Digitizer 4 & it's on the way to me (should be here in a few days) so I will give it a go & see how it is. You & Marshall both agree that it's a very good unit! I am sure it will sound Killer with my MP-1. Any "Quick" settings you can give me for it? I like that 80's Metal with a bit of Delay added to it...I am sure you know exactly what I am talking about? Thanks for the info Buddy & I will keep ya posted! \m/

Well, to your point on the 80's delayed metal sound...I really can't help you much there as that is one of the sounds that I really don't like personally so I can't give you pointers to that end.  However, set delay at 12ms, sweep depth about 1/3 way up, sweep regen at about halfway up, then set dry and delay levels to taste.  You will get a really sweet subtle chorus wobble that sounds spectacular through a slightly dirty amp.

Awesome! Thanks for the info & I understand if 80's Metal Etc is not exactly your "Taste or Favorite" (LOL) but thanks for giving me a starting point for the unit anyway! As always any Info/Help is always appreciated...\m/

Hey Dude hows it going? Forgot to ask you...would it be better if I run the Digitizer in the MP-1 Effects Loop or just "Out" from the MP1 & "In" to the Digitizer? I think it will sound better through the Effects Loop....right? If I do run it through the Effects Loop would I run MP-1 "Send" to D4 "Input" & MP-1 "Receive" to D4 "Output"? Thanks for any info Dude!  Appreciate it!! :banana-rock:

Hey Steve, best in the MP1 loop from a patching/gain/wet-dry mix perspective but then it won't be sudo stereo (as it has an inverted (B) out, signal wave upside down, not sure how useful that inverted out is so no a big deal).

Hey Steve, we're cross posting  :) , yeah, MP1 eff send to D4 in, D4 out to MP1 eff return, then adjust the send receive level on the MP1.  From memory there is one pot (knob) on the back which adjust from instrument level to line level.  It's a dual gang pot (adjusts both send/rec at the same time to keep unity gain).  So turn it up until the D4 has a good input signal for your loudest patch then adjust the D4 output so it doesn't overload the MP1 receive (I think one of the clip LEDs monitors the loop ?)  turn the D4 mix level (wet to dry) to full wet and adjust the patch to have the amount of effect you want.
Cheers R

Personally, I use it in the loop because I want to leave the stereo out to the MP-1 so that I can have a true stereo chorus with the MP-1's on-board chorus.  To me it is an either/or scenario and I would rather have the MP-1 chorus in stereo than the Digitizer, as I mainly use that for delay and that aforementioned chorus patch.  It is really up to preference on which you want to feature.

Hey RandallRG, a bit of cheap inspiration had led me to another use for the Digitizer.  If you get the FS-2 or equivalent footswitch and plug it in, you will have floor access to a delay hold function and redundant bypass.  The hold acts as a loop timed to the delay time setting so you can get up to 1 sec of looping.  I decided to unleash this while jamming to Pantera's "Primal Concrete Sledge" so that I could play a solo over the main riff.  If you do try to find the footswitch, I do believe that there is a company with new FS-2 replacement switches on eBay.

Now that does sound like a good idea, I wonder, can you tap time the delay with the FS2 as well ?

You can...in a way.  My digitizer has the DS-4 and FS-2 knock off footswitches mated to it.  The only deal is that you have to program in the delay times ahead of time and switch between the programs and banks to get the desired delay time.  One you switch programs, you can hit the hold button and get your "tap tempo"  function.  As you will understand, this has advantages and disadvantages.  You really have to rehearse well with a drummer so that those limitations will not jump out live.  If you want tap tempo, the best thing to do would be to get a second, different-sounding delay with tap tempo just for that purpose.  Nothing is impossible though.
