I have been using amplitube 3 vst for a long time, mainly with the engl powerball amp. For the bass, I liked the ampeg models. I just switched to amplitube 4. I did not used it a lot, but it sounds quite different with the same patches than amplitube 3. I think they improved the cab and speakers sims a lot.

I checked them out and it seems there a whole range of stuff you can buy from them.

back to your original question. yes you need a mp1. it's a classic piece of gear. they will get it harder to come by you can't get this kinda sound with modern amps.

Hey Van, when I google  Behringer Rev100 it come up all Yamaha  :dunno: , is that the right model No?
