NGD: 2017 Kramer Baretta Special
« on: Time Format »

Incredible.
149 euros...brand new from the shop.
A blast.

Mahogany body.
Quartersawn (or it looks like, at least...) maple neck.
22 frets thick and genuine rosewood fretboard.
Very good fretwork and frets dressing (no sharp edges at all!).
Very good and precise tuning machines (they 100% look like unmarked Fender Am STD ones...).
A very good Alnico V hot humbucker.
One volume with already installed treble bleed cap.
A very good nut.
A very, very, very crappy unusable 6-screws vintage type bridge.
No scarf neck (2 pieces headstock, anyway).

It bleeds and deliver BROWN SOUND.

I will measure volume pot, since I'm not sure it's a 500K...eventually I will replace it.
And I will replace that bridge for sure (I already have a very good Gotoh at home).

It rocks the cradle away already.

Have a look...and, if you can, try one.

The selling price of these things is very nice, Rich...

It seems Gibson uses better politics for the Kramer brand than for the main one...

Hey Max, a great price point, and all you have to do is give it a decent bridge.  I love the colour, looks awesome  :thumb-up: and you can run up a bunch of new patches for it when your MP-1 returns home  :whoohoo!: .

I bought the guitar for that purpose...  :banana-guitar: :banana-guitar: :banana-guitar:

The colour is awesome: it's a nicely "creamy" vintage white...more creamy than in those pictures...it like a light "butter yellow"...
I preferred it to the all black one.

The bridge is actually crappy, it really sucks...but that's not an issue...not at that price, at least...

Hey Max, it's good it's only the bridge, normally at that price point all the hardware is pretty ordinary. Waiting (with baited breath lol) for your reaction to the MDRT, it really opens up the MP-1 in a very nice way.

Yeah, it's quite incredible...just a crappy bridge.

Tuning machines are the same as Fender Am STD ones...just unmarked.
The pickup is very good.

I just have to verifiy if the volume pot is a 500K, since the guitar sounds a little too "brown" and then the pot could be a 250K or 300K.
I will measure it.

By the way, a 500K CTS or Alpha is something that this guitar deserves.

Everything else is fine, from nut to output jack.
No lacks.

The MDRT will be here soon...  >:D
