Title: Is it possible to simply add a small 12v filament transformer for the heaters?

Rather than replacing the transformer with an MRDT model, which is $150, is it at all possible to install a small inexpensive 12v filament transformer and use it to power the heaters at the correct 12v?

I would then use the existing tranny to power everything but the heaters.

Thoughts?
