I remember reading this review in '94 and thinking: At a MSRP of fl2725,00 (about the same in euros now I guess) I'll never own one of these! In the end I paid 225 euros for mine... All good things come to those who wait. ;D

I bought my first one new, $2500 AUD with discount, I had to sell my MP1 rig to help pay for it. The present day value of 1994 $2.5k AUD is around $7k, they were not a cheap unit.

A gulden was about 0.5 euro or 20Bfr (belgium frank).So back then a mp-1 was around 1300 euro and around 500 euro for the mxc pedal pack.Back in the early 90's a dollar was about 0.66 euro.That 's why everything from the US wa so freaking expensive.I bought my MP-1 new for around 900 euro in '91.

True, but taking into account that prices and wages have about doubled, by today standards the mp-2 would have cost more around 2600 euros.

That's true ,but on the other hand the dollar lost a lot of it's value compared to the 90's.

It's probably apples and oranges, but the fact remains it was worth the money back then and it is definitely worth the money today!

Yes it was,it costed more then a month's pay back then.But i enjoyed it ever since.Been playing ADA's for 25 years now.

When MP1 came out then later MP2 I didn't even blink, I wanted them both, just such good preamps and solved lots of issues for me.

I started my rack adventure by running a Jackson JX3 into a marshall JCM800 solid state combo. If you think the MP's are noisy, give the JX3 a try! Later I bought a used marshall 8004 valvestate and a 1922 cabinet. I switched the JX3 for a Hafler Hellraiser preamp and not much later I bought my MP-2. By the time I could afford a tube power amp a friend of mine had just bought a MP-1, Marshall 20/20 and mesa 2x12 v30 cabinet which he left at my house over the weekend to play around with. Although I liked the sound of the MP-1, I prefered the versatility of my MP-2. I was able to compare the marshall 20/20 with a Mesa 20/20 and the first sounded very Marshall to me, it had deeper lows but was also very marshall colored. The Mesa is more transparent and after the deep mod very well balanced so I decided the Mesa was the way to go! I would someday like to add a MP-1 to my collection though.

While I still love the MP1 (which I used for many years), I like the MP2 even more. I also used a B200s for many years and now a Carvin TS100 (which is very nice and transparent). But like you I wouldn't mind adding a MP1 & a MP1 Classic to my collection  >:D . Though I do have 2 MB1s' on their way to me (bass player time  >:D O0 )

MP-1 3TM for distortion,MP-2 for cleans.Best of both worlds.

So MJMP if we built a 2 RU case with MP1 3TM and MP2 in it that would good  :thumb-up: (albeit a few things to sort out with transformers and signal flow)

Well you would at least need something to switch them.

Salient point MJMP, at the end of the day it's probably easier to have them both in the rack (as you do) and use an A/B switch
