Title: New Member trying to join
Post by: gb on September 14, 2015, 04:50:00 AM
Hi Guys

I know a guy whos an MP1 user and hes tried a few times to join the forum but doesnt receive any notifications via a hotmail address (i use a hotmail account and dont receive notifications either.. used to but not anymore).

Just wondering what the protocol is here? Can someone look and see if he has been approved or not? and if he is in fact not receiving notifications how can he activate his account if it has been approved?

Let me know and i can give you his email.

Cheers!!

Ok seems he's stratomaniac ? as MJMP has approved him. Dante added the Need Help Email us Here button for this reason (I don't get emails either, well once in a while I get a couple...). I also don't get the emails from the new(ish) button (which I should) but I think Dante and MJMP do, not sure if SC also gets them. Moreover, when I approve a new member (after checking their details (IP address, email address etc) against stop forum spam sites), I approve them but require activation (activation link sent by email.... so problem (sometimes), hence the contact us button). I apologise for the pain, but unfortunately it's better than the spammers and spam bots getting into us.

@Dante, sounds like time to cut over to the new install you did ? I lost all the details for testing it when my PC crashed  and MJMP said he was up for doing some testing (IIRC)

So whats this guys username ? so we can approve him. There's currently 4 users who haven't activated (as possibly didn't get the activation email ?) (Weayby (http://adadepot.com/index.php?action=profile;u=1454), B1uem0nday (http://adadepot.com/index.php?action=profile;u=1451), daviesjsd (http://adadepot.com/index.php?action=profile;u=1450), and KarolisZ (http://adadepot.com/index.php?action=profile;u=1448)).

Is that Icarus from the Carvin guitar forum? I hope he's able to activate. I mentioned ADA Depot to him a while back when he was searching for opinions about pairing an MP-1 with a TS100.

Is jarrod still around? And I know rnolan will have a lot of input.  ;D ;D

As MJMP said, neither Icarus or taipan are members, we can't approve him if we don't know who he is.

I see Jarrod checks the board from time to time, he hasn't posted in a while.

MP1 and TS100 would be a very good pairing  :thumb-up: But like all tube power amps, it weighs as much as Dante car LoL

FYI: I got rid of that car, so now a TS100 weighs as much as my OLD car. ha ha

Great amp!

Hey DF, cool good you got on and welcome back
@Dante, how could you get rid of that car, it's our bench mark for the weight of tube power amps LoL.

Unfortuntly I wasn't able to get the channel fixed so I just bought myself a Marshall 9001 power amp for like 50 bucks  Got one cab running with the Carvin and the other running with the Marshall so it's all good!

Things have been going fine, but I"ve moved into college so playing/seeing my MP-1 and other real gear only happens on the weekends, and I've been super busy so it's been hard hahah!

Thanks for remembering/thinking about me though dude, super cool of ya! :metal:

Hey Jarrod,  :whoohoo!: stereo  :thumb-up: how are you finding it ? I could never go back to mono, the ADA preamps sound so much better in stereo IMO. So do you know whats wrong with the TS100 channel ? maybe we can help ? they are not a particularly complicated amp.
Well bummer your away from your gear so much  , I know how much you're into it  :thumb-up: , how does college fit in, is that between high school and university in the US ?? and what are you studying ? something you like I hope.
Anyway talk to us when you can, I for one enjoyed your contribution to the depot
Cheers R

hahah, college is technically university I suppose! College and University goes hand in hand here in the U.S, it's just a different name for a different feel I suppose.

The TS100 for whatever reason just doesn't work correctly on channel 1: the volume knob is super cracky and makes no linear sense when it comes to raising the volume. Also, the max volume is very quiet on that side and doesn't even come CLOSE to matching the volume of channel two. Unfortunately this problem persists in bridged mode; which only uses channel one as a source of volume control. I tried wiring in a new pot but it didn't seem to help...

Also a couple of months back the on off switch stopped working. The amp would be constantly on unless I unplugged it from the wall. One month ago however, I was playing, heard a quick pop, and the power button/standby were now working again...so there is definatly something weird going on inside of the TS100.

Stereo has been an absolute blast though. Whether it be delays in stereo, chorused tones, detuned effects, flangers, phasers... dear lord everything sounds so much better in stereo. It's like a whole new experience.

The cool thing about having a super powered laptop though is that I can run some pretty nice amp simulators and millions of vst effects so up at college I really havn't been missing my MP-1 too much to be honest! I've been tweaking amp sims in Positive Grid Bias Desktop for months now and have found a general 80s tone that has literally blown me away and quickly became 'my sound'. I'm shocked that a computer could sound so good next to my all tube setup and multiple 4x12s back home but... it's so nice. If you don't believe me, take a listen to one of my latest recordings that I posted up on youtube. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NCTm4GNPbKc (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NCTm4GNPbKc) . To really hear my tone outside of the music, skip to about 1:47 on the video, where my guitar accidentally cuts out for a few seconds... and the mix sounds like its missing quite a bit!

And sorry that it seems like I've hopped out of here! I still lurk around and I'd forgotten to sign in for the LONGEST time so I've been guesting here checking up on random things every now and again. I'll never leave this place though! I love seeing all the gear talk and tone conversations and what not; we've got a real chill community here!

Thanks again for asking about me and everything haha. Makes me feel appreciated!

Hey Jarrod, seems your TS100 needs a visit to a good tech, particularly as a new vol pot didn't fix it.
Great video BTW, love the tone, kick ass  >:D and nice playing  :thumb-up:
