Title: Wet/DryWet Setup w/Boss GT-10, MP1 & MP2
Post by: Samuraipanda on September 10, 2016, 05:59:11 PM
Hey all,
I made a quick video of my tinkering with a w/d/w setup. Don't mind the playing and messy wires, I was still experimenting and I usually run a cleaner wiring setup.

I explain the whole signal path in the video. I would have to double check but I think the MP2 was set on Warm Vintage.

ENJOY!!!

Well that's nice, so if I understand correctly, the dry sound is the MP-2 and all the wet sounds come from the MP-1?

So if you use no effects it's only the MP-2?

BTW love the phrase "the 3.666 is there looking pretty"

RNolan.... Yeah I'm a snazzy dresser at home.

Marshall. yes, the MP2 is dry in the center cabinet only with no effects at all. the Left & Right cabinets are the MP1 in stereo through the effects. There is always a bit of reverb on the L/R cabinets and then I run all of the effects in stereo through them. The harmonizer is run as:

Left Cabinet: Major 3rd below
Center Cabinet: Root note
Right Cabinet: 5th above

Ok, I really think this is quite original.

Sounds pretty good to me, I am totally confused by the wah pedal though. How does it not work until you start pushing on it? Isn't it half cocked already?

You got a lot of amps in there! haha. I love the vid though, I think we should all do one of these. Was this your phone mic that picked up the recording? Did you have a mic in the room? Just curious.

As for the yellow shorts; at least you have shorts on ;)

Marshall.... I came up with it sort of out of necessity. My old Rocktron hush unit is dead and I don't like the Boss Ns-2 I have so I used the MP2 for the dry signal because it has a noise gate in it. As for the MP1 signal(s) the Boss GT-10 has two simulated NS@'s in it so that is what I use to tame the hiss from the MP1.
Plus I have an overactive imagination like many of us mad scientists here on the forum.

Dante,
The wah has a pressure switch so putting your foot on it activates the circuit. My Morley Bad Horsie II wah does the same thing. Here's a video I found of the Dunlop wah. About 3:25 it discusses the pressure switch.

Oh yeah, this was just my Samsung Galaxy Note 3's microphone. No micing or DAW etc. Maybe next weekend I'll mic all 3 cabinets on different tracks and record some high quality samples.

That's a pretty cool setup, sounds good too, especially recorded on a Galaxy built in mic!

Panda,

I'm curious, are you running Mono out from the MP-2?

Yes, single mono out to just one side of the Mesa 295

Hey Panda, since I have 3 slant split stacks, I've modified one (which I found in a pawn shop) to be either stereo or mono (so your MP2 dry could be in stereo as well  >:D ).  So I've got it so there are just 2 jack sockets, if you plug into one the box is mono, if you plug into both it's stereo.  That particular cab has 2 x 16 ohm 75w Celestions in it so impedance wise is 2 x 16 ohms in stereo and 8 ohms in mono
