Title: Hiya from England
Post by: urban_paranoia on January 10, 2015, 11:26:56 PM
Hiya from England! :)

I used ADA stuff way back, but after a long break, I have very recently acquired the following, most of which will form the basis of a new rack system build:

ADA MP-1
ADA MP-2
ADA 2FX
ADA MicroCab
ADA MC1

It's been such a long time since I used any of this gear, you can expect some questions along the way! :)

A couple of questions that will help, what EPROM version are the MP1 and MP2 (displayed on start up). Any idea how old the tubes are ? (and what they are, take the lid off send us a pic).
Cheers Richard

Errrr...I *think* from memory, the MP-1 is 2.01(?) and the MP-2 is something like 1.33 (although I may have them completely wrong, lol!)  :-[

I'll take a peep inside ASAP.

However, having had a very quick (first) power-up earlier today, I can confirm that (yay!) the MP-1, MP-2 and 2FX work, but the Microcab is dead - no power (although the external AC PSU tested OK).

Some of the patches on the MP-2 sounded a bit iffy, so I need to take a look at that (factory reset?) too.

Good news (bummer re Microcab)
MP1: v 2.01 is the latest/last update.
MP2: v1.41 is the last/latest (makes program changes faster, originally they were a bit sluggish). The version is displayed on the display during the start up. But I'd like you to check the tubes (which requires lifting the lid).
MJMP (and others) can help you trouble shoot the Microcab, hopefully you can get it going  :thumb-up:

Probably worth clearing the deck and doing factory reset on MP2 (maybe MP1 as well). I've posted a few MP2 patches in the MP2 patches topic, if you use the same patch numbers as I use (bank 11, 0-9) they are above the factory patches. These are dialed up for loud/live but you can turn them down. Dialing up patches at low/bedroom levels, they don't translate to stage volume very well, much better to go the other way.

It arrived with the correct ADA 16VAC PSU and that's what I've tested it with - the PSU seems fine.
