Title: George Lynch/ Dokken Beast from the East Lead tone test! (MP-1 CONTENT!)
Post by: jarrodthebobo on February 17, 2014, 10:03:39 PM
Just a little tone test I did to see if I could get in the ballpark of Lynch's lead tone. I have my mic spaced pretty far back from my two cabinets (and placed in between them so you can get a mix of the two cabs(probably shouldn't of had it back this far, room reverb on top of actual reverb= a bit hard to hear clearly)). Reverb is set for a very big room sound, with a lot of decay as well as low end cut, and the delay is set to about 400-500ms, 2-3 repeats, and the mix is rather high. ADA mp-1 into my normal setup, with the ADA set to my Vitto patch (which will be posted below), but I have some mids boosted using my Rane 15 band eq, with the highest boost in the 400hz and 630hz range, with the 1k and 1.6hz following after it. BBE sonic maximizer is set to about 2:30 (like on a clock) on the lo-contour, and 10 o'clock on the Process knob.

if people like my tone, or want to know more about my gear and all that crap, I'd be happy to film a little walk through of my rig, what I use, how I use it, etc.

Thanks everyone!

p.s I realize i'm not the greatest guitarist, but I enjoy making my guitar explode!

p.p.s here is the additional info regarding my rig:

Kramer 1987 Pacer Custom Deluxe -> Boss ns-2 -> ADA mp-1 (Settings: OD1: 7 OD2: 7 MV: 7.5 Bass: 9 Mid: 0 Treb: 6 Presence: 10 Tube Distortion channel) -> BBE Sonic Maximizer With the lo contour on about 3 o'clock, and process at about 10 o'clock -> Rane 15 band EQ, set for a small boost at 160hz, (.5db), and larger boosts at the 400hz, 630hz, 1khz, and 1.6khz ranges, with the highest slider being 400 and 630hz. -> Tc Electronics Alter Ego on the tape echo setting, mix at about 10:30, regen set for about 2.5 repeats, and the delay rate set for about 400-500ms -> Alesis Quadraverb set for a large room type reverb, with the decay at around 70, high cut at around -40, high cut around -10 (other settings are set to the sound of the room) -> Hush II  unit -> Carvin ts100 set  on max, with the presence knob at about 10 o'clock (channel B is used, so only 50 watts is utilized (channel A doesn't work and I cant get it fixed, which also means bridged mode is in the shitter too...). -> Bugera 4x12 cab -> Marshall 1960A -> Cheap microphone set between the two cabs placed back FAR (bad idea) from the cabs.

The gitaar sound is good but there's a bit too much reverb on it and like you say the mic isn't of good quality.Would like to hear it again but recorded a bit better.
