Hi guys
I need help as dunlop havent replied.
Im tryin to work out whether this is an issue in the pedal or the rack unit itself. Hoping its the pot in the pedal.
Heres a video of the noise it makes and i no longer get a nice crybaby wah sound. Almost like the pedal isnt smoothly going through the the wah sound.
The pots are expensive to buy so id like to try confirm it first..
Just to be clear watch until the end.. the first part looks like its a button click sound
https://youtu.be/rw7_BWEYVHI
Also i took the pedal apart..and just turned the pot on its own with my hand and the click sound comes on at exact same spot. I also tried a boss volume pedal..while it didnt sound like a wah (maybe due to range or the pedal doesnt suit) but didnt get the click noise
I also have one but I never had this problem, but it looks like a bad pot. Do you feel something when you turn it by hand?
No its quite smooth but its always in the same spot when i turn by hand.. i thought maybe the electronics in the main unit is reacting to that particular spot the pot is.
Hoping its just the pot..but its very very specific to one spot.
I tried a cheap 100k pot from local store and it worked better and no click..so must be the pot.
I just need to find a replacement or alternative to this

ADMIN EDIT: Resized pic C:-)
Always stay clear of bad pot..
Maybe best you ask dunlop which one you need. It looks different from a wah pot. The wah 100k pot is a ECB24B put check if it's the same.
Hahah thanks.
Yes i see the hotpotz II is a replacement. But ive asked dunlop to see.
Ill report back
Ok dunlop support have advised the replacement is ECB044
Seems they are mainly available in europe when googling. He advised to contact their sales dept for pricing
Saying that i was speaking to a pedal parts store and rhey said they had the same issue trying to source the hotpotz I pot and ended up using a hotpotz ii
MJMP do you have a pic of your pot? Id like to confirm what the original pot should be.
Not at the moment, I'll have to unscrew the pedal from my pedal board before I can have a look.

Ohh thata ok. I thought if it was handy. Ill likelt just get the hotpotzz II.. i did find a local swapshop with the exact pedal for $99 so i may get that aswell if it works
I just had a look and mine looks different, it's a square one soldered to the pcb. Maybe a ECB039 might fit too.

Ohh thanks for that.. wow soo many varying models of the pot being used
just an update:
So the 044 is a special order but when i went to my local music store (mom and pop style, family business) they had the original hot potz I sitting on the shelf (with dust) so i grabbed it!! replaced it. all good now and sounds soo much better. so id say the old pot was definitely faulty. im not sure if these units are supposed to get a very dominate crying sound like say kirk from metallica. the sweep/taper is quite wide so alot of foot movement but its clear and the 6 different sounds have unique wah ranges. theres definately that 70s wacka wacka sound there but no heavily crying sound. Sounds great though.
thanks for everyone's help/discussion.
ps. on a side note.. one of my mp1's is in fine form.. sounds absolutely amazing through VHT2902 and twin soldano eminence speakers.. what i thought was once a dull factory #1 preset sounds like a hot rodded marshall with just a little boost in bass and reduction in treble and presence.. I was blown away at what the low gain settings were.. that plus the wah . .wholy crap.
Wow what are the odds ;D Did you put the pot on the same setting when you put it back together?
I really love mine, ideal if you want to keep the audio in the rack.

I know right. I went to order the 044 from the store and tell them why i wanted to order it and how the 024 hot potz I is no longer available etc.. and he turned around and said 'this one?' Hahaha wiped the dust off it. He said he always had these spare as he was always repairing wahs back in the day.
Ok so do you mean same setting. I noticed that even though the pot has alot of travel only a certain range had any effect and that range was exactly, +/- 1 tooth, the range of the pedal so i dont think theres any other way.
I wonder what difference all the other parts have 039 044 etc and ehat a 470k pot would do
Just happy its working
