Title: Hello from WV, USA
Post by: kissfan113 on September 08, 2022, 02:32:47 PM
Hello everyone, My name is Kevin. I’m from WV, USA. I am a guitarist, play hard rock and metal. I’ve been working on building a solid rack system for the last 3 years or so, it contains a great amount of gear. I currently run several ADA products including a Digitizer 4, a pair of stock MP-1 preamps, an S1000 delay unit, A Microcab, and a Microtube 200 Power amp. Thanks for letting me on board. I look forward to learning more about my gear and getting some repairs done along the way.

GuitarJesus, I just appreciate versatility and diversity, that and a severe dislike for the well-being of my back as is quite apparent…. Still a lot of gear on my to get list though for one reason or another, I miss the days when rack gear was semi affordable while everyone was hyped about boutique pedals  :'( :'(

Rnolan Id considered to step it on up to a crane, that’s my normal line of business and I never cared much for forklifts anyway lol.

Once I get everything set back up in its own space and not working out of my storage area I’ll have to get pics of the amps and guitars for you guys, it will be a while, I just bought a house with a place for my musical endeavors but it needs a lot of work to be ready (nearly have to rebuild the entire thing) but the main house is takin priority for now. Here is a sampler from when I last had a music room

Hey Kevin,

    Welcome to the forum :thumb-up:

I see a lot of gear that I use also from ADA but it's nice to see I'm not the only one who appreciates the Voodoo Labs GCX, and how that switcher can help simplify a complex rig. Coupled with the Ground Control, it makes it a breeze.

I’m set up with a pair of ground control pro, a single ground control original, and a ground link all with different purposes and they definitely help keep things well routed and patched in properly. I use mine to switch amps, add and remove effects and preamps, split the signal between amps, so many uses and configurations and they are absolutely lifesaving when the chain gets complex

I have the Ground Control original that I bought back in the 90's. They're great, and they can do a lot more than most people know about. I use mine for multiple rigs and it works out. and the remote powering through the GCX means one less cable on the floor. I've never taken the wall wart out of the box

I don't know about the Pro, that must be the newer one, which looks a lot bigger than the one I have. I like the smaller footprint

The pro is narrower but taller, it does have metal switches instead of the plastic type the original had

You don't see those MkIII's a lot. What your favorite?

Honestly the Laney is my top amp, the mark iii is my pick of all the Marshall’s, but I may need to retube the SL-X before I pass final judgement, I will say for now the Mk III  over the 2000 and SL-X but the SL-X feels like it wants to give more than it currently is. I’m thinking possible cold bias on the power section and original Marshall preamp tubes ca. 1993 may have something to do with it.

Must say I never played a MkIII, I owned a JCM2000 DSL but eventually sold it again. Got it very cheap for around 200 euro because it had a loud hum. (was a bad powertube).
