Title: Problems with an MP2
Post by: franktuesday on June 23, 2020, 04:13:48 AM
Picked up an MP2 in a box of gear, some working some not. (It was free, but I had to take everything.) Plugged it in to see it's condition, and there are a couple problems.  The LCD screen is backlit, but nothing is displayed.  The lcds on all the buttons are lit up, but don't seem to respond to pushing the button.  And the big one: the only sound output is a rising sine wave.  Opened it up, and it's missing a NJU7304 chip, which seems to be unrelated to the problems I'm having.

Man, I would LOVE to find an MP2 sitting in a box of gear  :amaze:

If anyone can help you...it's the folks around here. Let's see what's going on in there (personally, i'm electrically challenged)

First thing to do is get the NJU7304 into it.  As it's right next to the front panel feed/cable (as per your photo in email) it may be all that's wrong? Question is though, why has it been removed  :dunno:

Don't think this is the problem.

I have plenty of other projects, and this one isn't likely to be a priority for me.   If the 7304 chip isn't likely to fix it, I'll probably never do anything with this.  It would be a great source of donor parts...
