Preheating default
« on: Time Format »

Hi,
My MP2 worked well until now, but recently problems of preheating appeared :
The message 'preheating' doesn't appear anymore, and the MP2 remains silent at startup for about 15 mn then progressively produces normal sound
Is there something to do ?

Thanks for any help
Gregory

Preheating?? you mean tubes warming up message?

About the silence,is this a patch with compressor set to ON?

Yes "STAND BY, Tubes warming up" was the exact message according to manual

I cannot say for the relation with the compressor activation, but will verify this next time.

Now the unit starts up without any message.

The silence and loss of message appeared together.

An important thing to precise is perhaps that the problem occured when i began to store and start the unit in a cold environement(  = outdoor garage ~ 5°/10°C when we start to play and warm the room ) . I used to store the unit indoor until now.

You're right.
I started the unit yesterday with the compressor OFF-> silence
and switching the compressor to ON -> immediate sound ( despite the cold temperature )

The message 'tubes warming up' appeared at first starting up

Ok so the message appears now (tubes warming up)?

The second problem (and they are not related to each other) is known problem with mp-2's.And i haven't found a solution for it.Now usually this problem solves itself after a few minutes.Got 3 mp-2's and they all ahve the same problem. But mine don't work with the compressor set to on.After a few minutes, sounds comes thru and they work fine.

yes the 'tubes warming up' message has been displayed yesterday at starting up.

Last times dealing with the 'silence' issue, i turned off and on the unit repeatively, that's why perhaps the message didn't appear anymore because the unit was already hot ... ?

Hey MJMP isn't this maybe the opposite of the compressor/wah issue ?  if they are out of circuit it all works fine ?  BTW Gregory, the ambient temperature change shouldn't be a big issue (not to say it isn't part of the problem, but I doubt it, I've run my MP2 inside , outside, back of a very cold semi trailer (needed heat lamp for my hands..)), however, let the tubes cool down (~10-15 mins) before you move it to help tube life.

So Gregory, I think what MJMP is asking, is when you turn on your MP2 (it will goto/default to the last used patch (whatever you had it set to when you turned it off last (no matter how many times you turn it off/on))) does this patch have the compressor set "on" ? (coz that's how it will start up). Now the known MP2 issue as I understand it is that if the compressor is set to off (and wah off), it shouldn't be an issue ??  and if it's set to on it takes a bit of time to settle, But you are getting it to work by turning the compressor on :???:

I have seen both cases,it didn't work with the comp on and it didn't work with the comp off.It has got nothing to do with the compressor it self but with the switching circuit. That's why you see both cases.
