Who has actually experimented with both to really say what sounds the best?

I'm thinking of getting either the GCS-3 or the Microcab II because both of them allow me to connect them to the speaker out of my poweramp to capture that tone... so 20 years makes the newer product better or not???

I own the ADA GCS-2 and I have owned the Microcab I and II, but that was a few years ago...

So, I'm going from memory, but from what I remember, they are very similar in sound... the Microcab sounded a little "dirtier" to my ears, but in the same ball park from what I can recall...

Hope that helps!

I both own the GCS -2 and MC-I and like the MCI,more tonal options. The GCS is limited in tone shaping.

El Chiguete

Ok so Marshall how would you describe the tonal options of the MC? Good recreation of the original tone they say they are or just like the MP-1 they are ment to have their own tone?

For what I might do I dont necessarily need cab simulation but if I have it I would use it when I needed it.

Well you got the bass and treble pots and you can set all the buttons to the off position when you push one button slightly in,so none of the cab sims are selected.Best sound IMHO.

El Chiguete

Jaja so your best sounding advise for this cab simulator is to slightly press on button in to have no cab selected but have the cab simulation selector in the IN instead OUT position???

Hey El, my take on it is the GCS 2 and GCS 3 are much of a muchness but the GCS 3 has a pad for amp speaker inputs.  I've run one up here with MikeBs MP1 (in M1 loop) and it sounds good.  Personally I prefer the MP2 cab sims but the GCS's have more controls for mike choice placement etc.

yep (IN position) but it still will do a cab sim but a special one,i know other mc owners do this trick too. This also works with the ampulator.
