hey all
the fx loop on my ampeg vl 502 died.
here is what i tried:
amp with no fx in loop works works fine
amp with effects in loop, has sound, but it won't pick up any of the effects.
randomly plugging cables in send/return won't do anything, the amp still has sound.
so pretty much whatever i plug in the loop, nothing happens. the amp still has sound.
will any guitar tech be able to fix these kinds of issues? hopefully it's just a bad input jack or something.
i am don't know anything about electronics, but is it possible that this can be unrepairable?

nope, the switch does nothing. nothing happens no matter what i plug in.

There's not much special about this loop so a tech should be able to repair it.

at the shop now, should be ok. i read this amp breaks down all the time.
now hopefully they can do something about the light up logo.
sorry to bother you again marshalljmp, is the light up logo as simple as a light bulb or some sort?

decided to give it back to the store.
they opened it up and the previous owner was trying to fix it. it's not worth the dump more money to fix the loop.

Like I said the loop is pretty simple,it's solid state and uses a dual opamp,some pots and resistors and a switch.
Didn't the shop get it fixed??

no clue, the guy didn't want to fix it for some reason.
not going back to the place again. seems like they don't test their gear before selling them.
might be picking up an Orange OR 15 for $399 tomorrow though:P

Mmm that's strange,there's nothing complicated about that loop,so should be an easy fix.

MJMP, maybe there's more going on with that amp. As Chamai said earlier, it looked like someone had already done something in that amp. They might have botched it, which would explain why the amp was up for sale to begin with.
I know I'm not in the business of selling equipment, and I don't typically get rid of something if it's working like it should. I'll usually get rid of something if it's become more trouble than it's worth.

yea no clue, i am gonna stay away from that store. they seem to take stuff in and not test them.

guess what, just got myself a JCM 900 MKiii 2X12 :banana-trip:
next amp is gonna be an orange th30.
not going for the ta30 just because there is no 16ohm speaker out.

Some guy traded in all 5 mini 1watt marshall heads today at a store. Picking up the jcm 800 tomorrow. Gonna use the yamaha hs5 monitors i got for free as a promotion for my keyboard to trade.
Im happy. Its been a good week
