wah before your MP-1/2/Classic

So who here uses your wah before your MP-1/2/Classic?

Hey El, GB (George) used his Dunlop rack wah before his MP1, I think MJMP does as well (IIRC).  I use the auto wah in my MP2, I wouldn't mind getting another CC pedal for my MXC and assigning it to wah, I only have one so it's assigned to master volume (which I use all the time).
The main consideration I spose (apart from gain structure issues) is, do you distort the wah signal (wah before preamp) or wah the distorted signal (loop).  As most wah units are designed to be before the preamp/amp, they are generally instrument level devices and work better up front.

FW-3.

I always use them in front of the preamp or distortion.

You could use it in the loop, like previous posts, depends what you want to do; distort the wah, or wah the distort sig, although I agree, wah is usually before the preamp. As with MP2, guit > comp > wah filter > tube preamp > etc (see page 2 of manual). I've not tried it (wah) on distorted signal (compared to in front), try it both ways and go with what sounds best.

I ran my ol' classic wah in front of my MP1, and MP2. I also ran my V-Wah in front of my amp's distortion with my Boogie.

Now, I use the Wah in my rack FX (Boss GX-700) through the FX loop, controlled by the MXC CC pedal.

Yes thats what I think but sometimes here the guys don't like anything in front... just wanting to check!

I prefer (and have) nothing in front (much better tone and gain structure), fortuitously the MP2 has the Wah before the tubes  ;) , Although I don't use it much and if it wasn't there I probably wouldn't worry about having Wah. I have one patch with auto (triggered) wah, IIRC it was for a song from previous band set list.

My rule is go in front.  That way you can vary the mp1 amp gain to keep it clean or super saturated.  If you run it after amp gain, you will get a dramatic wah effect no matter what.  Though that could be your cup of tea.

So would running a wah in the effects loop give it the super quacky sound like putting it after a distortion pedal?

Seeing as the amp itself compresses the signal when enough gain is applied, any dramatic eq curves that the wah pedal generates gets flattened out when placed in that manner.  Ultimately, I would experiment with both. If shredding is a must, throw it before for more note evenness throughout the wah's range.  If you want to play more rhythmically, the loop gives you that quack at any gain setting, though this setup is very uncommon in my experience.
