First let me say this so there is no confusion, the effects in the GP-10 are typical Boss pedal effects quality. I wouldn't waste time doing A/B comparisons with my rack gear because it's not even close. Think of comparing a Boss pedal like the CE-2 with the chorus in your MP-2. Are they close? Not even in a thunderstorm.

This does do some modelled guitar sounds with certain synth combinations as I mentioned earlier, and these guitar tones actually get in the way of the overall sound when I have my actual guitar tone mixed in, or split to a separate amp. I'll need to edit that out. The reason being is because with the modelled guitar tones it's set to one sound, one pickup, one voice.  Switching pickups on my guitar does not change the sound of the modelled guitar. I suppose in a limited number of situations that might be a good thing, but for the most part, it gets in the way. These guitar sounds only come into play when I have the 13-pin din cable connected.

I would need to use the 13-pin cable if I wanted to do alternate tunings, or simulated capo tunings and then the guitar works like a normal guitar, meaning it isn't modelled, just processed. Listening to it by itself, I can hear a bit of a difference from the original guitar tone, but in a live mix, I think that would be hidden a bit more.

Speaking of a journey, last night I was trying a couple more guitars in the GP-10. I tried the seafoam green one in it, and it definitely comes through with it's own personality. That one is a perfect guitar if you want to cop SRV or Eric Johnson tones. Definitely a Texas Blues guitar, so that didn't last too long. Then I picked out my 1983 '57 RI Strat and took that for a ride, and I think I'm the one who went on a ride instead...right back down to the early eighties again and this time I was having a blast playing I Want A New Drug, and Working For a Living by Huey Lewis and the News. I was in the "Crunch 2" preset with the boost and chorus w/delay effect added and I was nailing those tones to the wall! That was so much fun because I haven't played those songs since 1986. I think both of my 1983 Fender guitars might be the best ones out of all of them. The crunch tone was definitely there, but with a lot of clarity and articulation. This tells me that there a lot of possibilities with this pedal to get some really useful live tones. It has good clean tones, and it has good crunch and distortion tones, so that's a start.

  As we both said, I may not be able to get away from the hybrid rig concept to get good articulation between the guitar and synth tones. That could happen with a very small rack that has an extra power amp and one of my Rane SM-26 mixers in it. Send two feeds to the guitar cabs and two feeds to the synth cabs with level and panning control for each. Oh well...there went the fly rig idea  :facepalm:

Yes, I did notice the cabs on the wall and wondered if those were yours, I wasn't sure.

So I've come up with an idea (I expect it's not new  :dunno: ), that instead of trying to cover the speakers with a grille of some sort to protect them.  I was contemplating making (or getting made) a cover so they are protected in transport.  So while pondering that idea, I though, what if I can find a travel suitcase (cloth version with 2 wheels, not 4) that it fits in?  The one I have is just a bit small, I need 670 x 470 x 310 inside the case.  So it seems this idea may work out as there are plenty bigger than mine.  And if I can fit the MXC, Exp pedal etc. in the front zip pouches  :whoohoo!: .  If I have a cover made, I still have to carry it (and it's on the heavy side (like all good speakers should be).  But, if I can fit it in a wheely case with a handle...  Anyway my ex has a case almost the right size and she wants a new one with the 4 wheels.  I'm hoping it works out (it's 450 wide but soft sided and I need 470 wide) apart from that it will fit fine.  Work in progress LoL.

Holey crap batman, these speakers just get better and better as they settle in.  At first, the MP-2 clean sounds were just melting me, so good.  Initially bridge PU dirty wasn't quite floating my boat as much. But they have come on like a storm :whoohoo!: .  Just fished a rehearsal with the rig and all the sounds were just amazing. And I haven't changed the patches at all. So B200s set on 1 o'clock. Vol pedal ~1/2 (which is the MP-2 main out vol), well we are in my lounge room.  The great thng about that is my neighbours ask me to tun it up, go figure (Wayne's world, party time..). 

So now I'm seriously contemplating changing out all the Celestions in my ADA Slant Split Stacks for the Lorantz 75 w 12"s (https://www.lorantz.com.au/loudspeaker-products/loud-speakers/12-inch-guitar/ac304u75-mi-12-inch-guitar/).  So I have the 100w variant (https://www.lorantz.com.au/loudspeaker-products/loud-speakers/12-inch-guitar/ac304u100-mi-12-inch-guitar/), while I don't know the shipping cost to OS (e.g. US) at $207 and $216 AUD ($133 USD and $139 USD respectively) is not outrageous.  And these are the best guitar speakers I've ever used.  So if you want something a bit special, that sounds "way better (IMHO)" than the competition, order a pair and try them out.  I can categorically say/report, you won't be disappointed.

Yeah I was wondering as well, but now I see it (I had to pause it and go looking), you have the 1x 12"s spread very wide all up on the back wall (good idea!).  It sounded allot like crystal clean which I use mostly, but it did sound nice and "spanky", so maybe spanky clean  :dunno: .  I liked the guitar level, the keys could have been a bit louder (as you say), but the balance (of the guitar) with the bass (great bass BTW) and drums (also great) was fine, and nice and in your face, well it's that kind of song, and vox were clear.  Looks like a great party, which are my favourite things to play.  And your V sounded great  :whoohoo!: , not necessarily a guitar you would expect that sound from.  So what else is in the rack we can't see??  One side/channel drops out of the clip mix from time to time but when it's on, that's a pretty respectable recording of a backyard party IMHO :thumb-up: .  I see you (like me) like a sweat band on your right hand, I feel naked without it these days. Originally I started to do that because par 64s (lights, front wash) would bake me and make the pick slippery (even though the Tortex purples I use do absorb a bit of sweat). 

Edit, hey Dante, where did you derive the sound recorded on the clip? E.g. mic(s) in the crowd?, desk send? blend of both?  Just asking because the sound was quite good (I played the clip through my studio monitors).  Obviously it could have been even better if you did a totally separate mix to the camera but it was pretty dang good  :thumb-up: considering... (hence my question).

Hey Harley, quite a journey  :thumb-up: .  When I mentioned using the GP-10 in the loop it was in response to you saying you wanted to just try the FX on their own (no synth mixed in), and it struck me as a good way to get great guitar tones (MP-2) and see how the FX compare with your rack FX.  Also good for recording as the cab sim outs on the MP-2 do a very reasonable job, they are also very useful if you wanted to use full range monitors or do a direct desk feed. 

But obviously, if you are to use it as a nice small fly away rig, you need to get the guitar tones humming and then add stuff to that.  From what you've said/experienced so far, it would seem you need to do a hybrid setup, guitar into one amp, synth stuff etc. into its own dedicated amp(s).  BTW how does it do guitar sounds? are they modelled?

I have the same problem with the pan head screws that come with the D'Addario click lock straps, those screws will mess up your case.

The ones with the rubber washers are cool too, same size as the rubber ones I got. Same screw holding them in too.

If you look at the wall behind us, you'll see two 1x12 Thiele cabs. That's my rig. The rack is next to the speaker on the left, the sun was coming out & I put some white paper (or a shirt) in front of the rack to keep it cool, later we moved an umbrella over there.

I have no idea what voice that was, coulda been spanky clean, crystal clean, I don't know....long time ago. Keyboards were a bit quiet and my guitar was a bit loud...not that I'm complainin  ;D

Was that with the Crystal Clean voice? I think the cleans in the MP-2 have a lot more presence in a mix because of the EQ structure in the preamp, but you can get close to this with the MP-1 in SS Voice. It's harder to get this punchy of a clean tone with the Classic though. I'll bet I could do it with the right power amp coupled with the Classic.
