I saw them live here in Cph back in their haydays, and I'd say you guys do a pretty neat job at it.
Your tone is amazingly correct, given the gear somewhat different from Angus'.
I'd say his tone had more presence to it; I think yours (in Thunder) has a Bit too much in the 1100-1500 Hz range.
I could easily be wrong, but didn't he play a lot with both pups on (in parallel)?
In Thunderstruck (Older show) I was using my Reezafratzitz.
That could explain frequency layout being much different from what I have currently.
Now I'm using the Plexi 800 from Lovepedal and even though the Reezafratzitz does a great job, the Plexi 800 is clearly
a better pick.
The tone is clearer, less mushed up and remains very focused and stringy.
Also the tone cleans up perfectly if you roll down the volume knob on the guitar.
The Carvin X100B is very similar to a JTM45... Basically the same circuit with 6L6s.

Tone is very elusive also.
I could play in Angus' own rig and we might sound different anyhow.
Still, I strive to achieve the best results, but I think I'm already in the anal zone where only I
and a very few humans will detect any further improvements tone wise.
My bass player mentioned me a few months ago about the recent rage over the reissue of the infamous
Schaffer-Vega diversity wireless which they produced a preamp version of it...
I'm sure the unit is a good product, but it's always more marketing than actual facts.
I answered to my bass player: I think honestly that I will get closer to Angus' tone by picking up
his vibrato, licks, feel and phrasing than relying on gear.
And I'm sure Angus sounds like Angus even if you give him a Strat plugged into a Roland cube.

By the way, great to see you around VanSinn!!!   :banana-upsidedown: :whoohoo!: :banana-upsidedown:

Hi Chucky, so You're on the way to get Angus gear ?
Not really... I'm trying to pull it off with whatever I have already and going low budget.
I don't see myself going to get a Schaffer Replica at $500 plus a circa JCM800 or JTM45 for close to $2000 and what not.
I was lucky to get a nice SG Standard for $800 CAN... I think my actual set-up should be sufficient.   O0

A friend of mine has the Shaffer and this thing sounds really good on a non master volume marshall very very close to that old AC/DC sound.Downside it's freaking expensive and you still need to cranck the marshall.

Does a jcm800 or JTM45 cost so much in Canada??Here you get these used for around 800-900 euro's,downside is they are a bit hard to find.

If they are anything like my '72 50w they are also very loud, I used a power tom schultz soak so I could crank it up for a decent tone and still be in the same room. I played at an open air party in the bush with it years ago without the power soak, you could hear it 13km away apparently  >:D

Well 900 Euros is about $1500...So it is pretty much the same price.
But to me these days $1500 is a bit much to pay for a head I will only use for this show.
It would mean that I would do the next half dozen of shows just to finance the amp.
f*ck that!!  :o
I just did a pedal survey yesterday in my home...Gibson SG fed into one pedal at a time into my Fender Twin reissue.
Good way to see how they can drive such a clean amp.
In the lot there was:
-EMMA's Reezafratzitz
-Suhr Riot
-Diamond Cornerstone
-Voodoo Lab's Sparkle Drive (Monte Allums mod)
-DOD YJM308 overdrive (Monte Allums mod)
-Lovepedal Plexi 800
-Bagus custom pedal

The 2 last ones were by far the best for an AC/DC application.
Especially the Plexi 800 as it really pumps...Total no brainer.
I still can't believe the amount of output it has. It hits the amp's input with super loud levels.

That tone is exactly what I'm shooting for when I write my standard 'Classic Rock' patches for all my guitars/preamps.

Nice job, Chucky!
