Hello all,

I’m Tom, a guitar builder, repairman and amp guy in the Nashville TN area.  I love older digital and rack equipment.  While researching ADA’s Mb1 and Mp2 units I came across this fine forum.  My project rack right now runs an Art Power Plant into a Solton digital delay, a Korg DRV 2000, powered by a McIntosh 2150.  It’s all switched around by a Digitech “the Midi Pedal” and a Peavey Midipro.  There is an ADA Mp2 in my future, I think the stereo loop, tube voicing and midi capability checks all of the boxes that the Art just misses.

I’ll have to give Pornograffiti a fresh listen, the Mac gives everything a smooth clarity, especially if it’s cranked until the limiter starts kicking in!

Pornograffiti revealed.
But Nuno's power amp was a McIntosh!

Michael Nielsen is another guy I would like to have around here.

Hey Tom, welcome to the depot. Nice rack you have, I also like older gear. Solton, that's a name I haven't heard in years. Do they still exist?

Welcome Tom!

I'd beware though, this forum seems to be a gateway to gear.  :D

I watched the vid, Iperfungus, the boost and EQ in front of the rig are ideas I use and like, usually with the Boss 7 slider pedal.

The Mac really is key, i almost went with the 2100 and may modify the limiter feedback to be more like the 2100 or 2120 some day.

Marshalljmp: Solton’s founder’s son has made a rejuvenation of the brand, mostly key boards, I think.  This old unit is badged West Germany and has a really raspy, deep digital twang.  The back panel has jack inputs to control delay, feedback (Ernie ball foot pedal works) but I have them hard switched by the peavey to minimize the cables.  It also has a five volt signal on the hold jack that is tons of fun with a pedal.  Every time I fire it up I hear The Scorpions.

I always found that non DSP digital delays sound better.

Welcome to the forum Tom

Nice little rack setup, I'm sure it gets the job done. I have to admit, now you've gotten my curiosity up with the McIntosh. It never occurred to me to use a HiFi poweramp on my racks, and that would be an interesting experiment.

I've never heard of Solton delays before this

A McIntosh power amp...wow!
Nuno used a McIntosh power amp with his MP-1 in the Pornograffiti era...

I met Nuno backstage at Virginia Kendall Amphitheater on that tour in '91. He walked me through his rig, but it had four T100S power amps in it, which makes sense. I wouldn't want to drag an expensive amp like a McIntosh around on the road. He was really nice about the whole thing, because I was really there to meet with Jeff LaBar from Cinderella who was on the same bill with Extreme and David Lee Roth. Good times :thumb-up:

Like Dante, I'm also curious about your guitar builds
I hope top see more posts from you here.

Lucky guy.... :thumb-up:
Yep...The studio rig was different from live rig, I assume....Nuno used the McIntosh in the studio and Carvin power amps on stage, if I recall right...
