Title: Self Quaranteen Stories
Post by: Dante on April 12, 2020, 01:03:56 PM
YO! It's pretty quiet in here, considering how many of us are on lockdown currently. I know y'all got some interesting stories that have happened since we've been cooped up, like being afraid to lick the cheetos dust off your fingertips. Like, pulling out old gear that you never had time for and making discoveries (I discovered my MP-1 Classic sounds like a fuzz in any gain stage - I'll try tubes first). Like, ANYTHING that happened - did your band hold an 'online show' with Zoom?

We have a pretty tight little community of musicians and fans here in Sacramento. Aged from 30somethings to 50s. So, if I say 'the girls', I really mean women around 40 years old - haha. I DIGRESS. A local vocalist decided to have a little radio show every evening, each with a different theme. He'd post something on Faceb**k, asking for ideas to use in that evening's theme. He gets a setlist together and has a little show in the bedroom. He's a frontman, so he's good at acting entertaining.

One of my bands was going to get together at a local studio that has tons of room (we know a guy), but our other guitarist's wife's immune system is very compromised and we didn't wanna take any chances. It could kill her, whereas we could fight it off. sigh.

Lay it on me ladies and gents. I'm bored  :waving-banana-smiley-emoticon

You guys have anything like that going on?

Messing around on my scope and function gen's today.  Creating some Lissajous curves and shapes. That’s how boring things are here.          :D  :D  :D

No stories other than I'm sick of people around me no listening to the government advice on self distancing and isolating.  Some of my neighbours are a disgrace.

All I've been doin myself is heading to the super market when I need food and drink and going for walks near where I live and that is that!  Those are the only two reasons over here for people to leave their homes and it's sickening the assholes I happen to live near who are constantly back and forth in their cars and having people over who don't live in their house (all of which is currently against the law specifically drawn up since covid lockdown situation has occurred).

I have been messing with guitar and gear of course but my motivation is shot.  Off until Wednesday then back to work (working from home) which is actually a nightmare as it's awkward and turned a place I don't associate normally with work into a place I don't enjoy right now.

RG - you're not alone in that 'lack of motivation' phase and also not the only person to express disdain over working from home. My buddy says "i never leave the office...the damn computer is a bane to my existence now"

You stay careful, let the others get sick. You'd probalby kick it's ass if you got it anyway  :banana-rock:

Oh yeah man not just me, everyone going through similar shit.  Just crazy times.  Heard this morning Europe mainland are lifting restrictions in some places.  Where I am we're 3 weeks behind, so aint not letting up here.

I hope you are right, that I would kick it's ass if I got it.  I was diagnosed with asthma about a year ago so that puts me in the "at risk" category so I really hope If I do get it I can kick its ass.  Been doing what I can despite what I see around me with other idiotic people.  So fingers crossed.  Lets hope no one gets it though!

A friend of mine told me: you already have a 100% success rate for all the shit life has thrown at you - you got this

Hope so my man  :thumb-up:

Today during Covid lockdown week number 3, I decided to borrow a neighbours ladder to go up and get rid of some birds nesting in the top corner of my house!  Muther f**ker!  The ladders were so heavy I could barely manage them.  I weight about 12st 2-5lbs  (172lbs ish) and these ladders where not moving with my body weight.  Had to use strength to manoeuvre them.  And when I finally got them into a place that was decent, they kept slipping on the grass.  Girlfriend could not help me at all as she wasn't strong enough or heavy enough.  Decided to move the ladder to the side of the house and try from there.  Got a stable position ok, got up the height ok, but from the side I could not access the roof tile that I needed to lift  >:( man I am so pissed off.  Couldn't ask neighbour for help as you know social distancing etc keeping 2 meters apart blah blah.  Now these bastard birds are gonna be laying eggs and killing me with their screeching chicks during lock down!  Mega pissed!  Bloody ladder has left me battered an bruised as well.

Sorry just had to get that off my chest!

Hey RG,

I sort of have the same going on here out my back yard. We got pigeons roosting in under the fire escape. The Bastards shit all over the back yard and its filth.

Gonna have to do something about it too, like get a BB gun or something,  >:D

Nah, I will get the pest control guy out.

Anyroad's RG, take care and stay safe at all times, this lock down thing is mental pain for us all. Believe me.

I like pigeons though!  It's muther f**king starlings that are a massive pain in the hole!  I guess the pigeon shit is not so cool like so I get ya.  I got up to the side and saw the cavity where these fuckers are but I'd need round the front side (front of the house) to see what's really going on.

I just started checking out ladders there that are the height I would need to get up there.  The weights are like 12kg to like 16 kg.  So the ladders that I was loaned must have weighed about I dunno 70kg.  I just couldn't understand my feebleness moving them about.  I moved ladders about before no problem.  Perhaps these were steel ladders and the ones I had no issues with before were aluminium or something I dunno?

Too keep busy I'm building some clones of famous pedals. First one is finished, a clone of a MXR phase 90. Also finished the pcb layout of a tubescreamer, mxr flanger with a SAD1024 (I have some lying around) mxr dynacomp, finishing the maestro PS-1B and started on the Mutron octave devider (I want that sound Accept has on the Neon Nights) and a Rangermaster (found some original OC44's in my parts stock)

BTW creating some Lissajous curves can also be fun  ;D

I need to know how the Mutron goes!  Please keep me updated.  I find I can fake that sound using my harmonizers in certain ways.  But I spoke with you before about really digging that Neon Nights tone, so if you make a good clone let me know how it goes.

You buy the kit or make the kit up yourself?

I'd be into the rangemaster one but I already bought a premade one.  Has a dial that allows more low end into the sound which I have found very useful.

Sorry, no real viral stories from me, other than it's overblown and politicized.
Not meaning that the virus isn't there, but that it's being blown out of proportions, complete with incorrect data, all to create so much scare that people will accept even their constitution being rendered off-line.
200 mil people dies every year, about 5.7-5.8 mil from ordinary lung deceases.

And such viral scenarios all has been thoroughly investigated and rehearsed years ago, like the 2016 London Exercise Sickness..

There's nothing more powerful to control people than fear.

Worst is that several mechanisms against the virus has been known for a long time, like a cure against malaria invented early 1970's, or extracts from certain mushrooms, which renders the spikes/tentacles almost incapable of attaching to receptors in human cells.

Don't get me wrong, the virus is there, and logical precautions of course applies, but once a virus is present, it will infect, it will adapt to the host, and the host will learn to cope with it.  The virus will gradually spread, and most hosts will learn to cope.

A number of media reports have shown trucks in Italy, claimed to be transporting dead bodies - but has anyone seen these bodies?
Mortality rate of ~8% claimed, but the number of dead are misinterpreted, because those diagnosed and dying on a hospital often dies from ordinary causes while carrying the virus, but not dying from it, that is, died with the virus, not from it.
And likewise with the number infected. which is much larger than reported, which means the mortality rate is really much lower than reported.

I live on a trailer park. We're well separated by natural means - except from toilets and washing cabins in the bunk house.

Walking along an open read, a woman strolling along with a baby in the four-wheeler, moved out on the road, complete with cars, to avoid passing me at about one meters distance - in 11 meters per second winds.
Her government/media-induced fear logic dictated it was safer being with her child on the road than passing me closer than the yes-Sir regulated two meters.

Me?  I use the same logical precautions I always observe during an ordinary flu, and use the supliments I always use for boosting my immune system anyways.
All while watching a few more Jewish Illuminati porns.

Sorry if I stir up emotions..
Peace

There isn't this kind of reaction to the flu (and anyways people forget the Flu kills people every year so its serious enough thing to worry about it hence the Flu jab I received in November).  I was exactly the same as how you were thinking until I got sent home 3 weeks ago from work and people were told to stay at home all over the country and all over the world.  That's when I knew this was different.  I thought it would never reach my country in fact.  AND NO getting people to stay away from one another is helping put less pressure on our (the UK) medical system which was in a bad state before all this so it's definitely not an overreaction, it's a requirement.  Seeing the the Prime Minister get it was also a wake up call.

Are you trying to tell me the deaths in Italy, Spain are all normal and we shouldn't think that this is an extraordinary situation?  Why would France want to put itself into another recession?  Why would any country do any of this to themselves?  Sounds very conspiratorial to me what you have just said.

The woman who stepped out on the road to avoid you, well she handled it wrong, she should have waited until you passed or else you should have let her go first.  But I guess because you don't believe in staying away from people you would never have done that since it's some government induced fear.  Perhaps have some respect for people who do believe in doing that?

I personally hate my government and have no reason to trust them or anything else, but I can just tell this is different for a change and extreme measures are required.

Hey VS

I agree with some of your maths and stats your your talking about, I don't think it's too overblown and politicized, it’s too international, too big of a deal.

I also think your pure wrong about the death thing;  that A number of media reports have shown trucks in Italy, claimed to be transporting dead bodies - but has anyone seen these bodies?
Mortality rate of ~8% claimed, but the number of dead are misinterpreted, because those diagnosed and dying on a hospital often dies from ordinary causes while carrying the virus, but not dying from it, that is, died with the virus, not from it.
    VS ?   :o   :o   :o

I know a guy who died last Friday from corona virus ! He was my old school teacher.
Also, my nephew is a consultant doctor in a hospital, he's not making up fake stories.

Conspiracy theorems like the 911 conspiracy, that the US government planned the whole thing.
Or, the Apollo moon landings were fake and that all of the TV footage was done secretly in Hollywood.
Or, the latest stuff now by David Icke, c’mon, NUTS.

I'm with RG and agree too.

I make it all myself, that's part of the fun  :D The range master is actually a very simple design, 3 resistors, a pot, a germanium transistor and 3 caps.
I'll let you know how it works out with the mutron but I'm using the original schematics and try to use the original parts.

Also forgot our bass player asked me to build him a distortion with tubes, so I'm working on that one too. I have finished a prototype for him to try out.

DAMMIT MJMP, we are all gonna bug the shit outta you for pedals now - haha!

As for this conspiracy theory crap, don't believe that spin that 'they died from previous issues' unless their immune system was compromised. And, while I'm sure people are dying of other causes with the virus in their system, but that's certainly not the norm. It's what's getting the press in this whole spin, but it's not the norm.

As I understand it (my sister works in the Hospital - gives me all the poop - tells me stories I don't particularly want to hear), this virus makes your immune system overreact, causing your lung sacks to fill with sticky fluid, not just water....it clogs up the sacks, so you cannot get enough oxygen. Hence, the ventilators to keep people alive.

The problem is (and this is actually happening vS, trust me), we don't have enough of the machines to keep everyone alive and doctors are being forced to prioritize which patients have a better chance to survive. Like transplant rules, the patient with the best chance of survival gets what they need. It sucks, but a 60 year old man isn't gonna get one if a 40 year old shows up needing it. :( Tough decisions that a doctor (whose sole purpose is to preserve life) has to make. Not fair.

Rant over - let's hear about them stomp boxes!!
Title: Re: Self Quaranteen Stories

Well over here we had a capacity of 2050 beds in the ICU's in all the hospitals in Belgium. At the peak 1200 of these were occupied. So here it was never a problem although plans were made to give priority to younger people.

About the stomp boxes, just having some fun. DIY is a lot cheaper then buying these.  ;)

Already heard similar things over here Dante, I heard the other day some elderly patient was being forced to sign an agreement that if they died they wouldn't be resuscitated  and the person didn't want to and they were told well if it comes down to the Dr will probably not do it anyway.  So there you go.  Brutal!

So MJMP will your Mu-Tron be better than the currently available re-issue/clone/whatever you want to call it Wolf Hoffman is currently using?

Trying to kill precious time positively here doing some overdue repair jobs.

1, A Fender DeVille: The fault was a burned out screen grid resistor that almost burned a hole through the circuit board on it's way out. The Cause, = A bad 6L6-GC power valve that shorted internally. All sorted now, repaired, tested and re-assembled.

2, A Thomann electronic digital keyboard. The problem was, some notes not working. I stripped it down and serviced it. The problem; It had dirty elecronic key switch pads and needed a good clean up and servicing. All good now, put back together and back in bizz again.

Thats all I'm at folks, I got more stuff laying around thats going to get looked at and repaired.

Rusty.

Hiya RG, yes there is stuff laying all around my house, I became a hoarder for a load of years of with sorts of electronic and musical items. Are all musicians like that I’m wondering RG?   :)

Hey Dante, happy days, It’s a nice buzz to fix your own stuff by yourself. Keep the flag flying boy.   :thumb-up:

Hey MJMP, your dead right there sir, anything and everything, it’s mad what some people bring to you ain't it.  :)
You must have done a vast variety of repair work with your experience throughout the years I bet ya, not just musical equipment.

Here’s one for you’s, check out the pics,

A guy wanted me to do a repair/restoration job on a 1960’s valve amp, I told him, "Geez man, my name isn't St Rusty",
I plugged it in for him to see if it worked.

Check it out,  LOL

@Rusty, yes all musicians are like that  For the moment I'm isolating my workspace so I had to move around some stuff, the things that come out when you do this ,ahrg.
Yes I also do other stuff, working on old jukeboxes but only the electronics, a friend of mine does restorations and he brings in the amps and sometimes I go over to his place to figure out some elektro mechanical things. Also work on pinball machines, electronic and elektro mechanical types. Here I do everything, so full restorations. And from time to time arcade games. I also have 5 pinball machines and one mame arcade game.

@RG Yes that's salvageable BUT at what cost.

@Kim, ahh bikes, also fun to work on, cars too.

Kim !

The Bike, I know it's a custom HD, What have you got there?

Thanks!  I've had it for about 5 years now, it's a 1995 Softail "Fatboy" with the 1340 Evo engine.  I just put new gaskets in it, all fluids changed, installed a new rear brakelight switch, new fuel filter and petcock assy. replaced a few rubber hoses, etc.  The vid was the first start of this year, after everything buttoned up besides the seat.  I only rode it twice since then; added 35 miles (56 km).  It's been a bit too chilly here yet so I am keen to get back on the road as soon as I can!

Motorcycles have been a passion of mine since I was about 14 years old or so.  I used to steal my dad's motorcycle at that age when he was gone to work and I'd illegally ride it all over the county.  I'd make sure to park it back in the garage exactly how I found it, and wipe it all off.   I've had several bikes over the rest of the years, all Japanese bikes and none really interesting (except for a modded '86 Suzuki GS1100) until my first Harley almost 20 years ago.  It was a '67 XLH Sportster and I didn't have it very long before it blew apart and would've costed far more to repair than what the whole bike was even worth.  After that I was "between bikes" until this one came along.   I don't "bash" other brands, I love 2 wheels.  But to me, the HD has a soul.  It feels like it lives and breathes with you, if you know what I mean.  The Japanese bikes I've had were nice, but they only felt like machines.

Oh no, pls no more bike pics ;)  I so want me a Suzuki SV1000.

@Rusty

Man I just empathised with you.  I didn't mention this at the time, but I was out of work for about 5 years at one point.  Hardest days I faced in life some of them.  Not long after I finished in Art College it was.  Then I started working in a shop in the stockroom dept after quitting my college part time job in a different shop with the aim of being made permanent and full time hours.  I didn't make friends with the boss so good and before you know it, Christmas had been and went and I was not kept on.

That was the start of 5 years unemployment.  This made keeping the band together even more difficult.  But somehow we got through.  Managed to get a few temp jobs then and eventually I bagged one that allowed me to become permanent.  On two occasions with those temp jobs, two super kind people give me an opportunity to put food on the table so I will never forget them.  Those kind of things matter.  So from that point on I've been in work since, now about 10 years and despite near getting fired a few times (one quite recently), having a job helped finance the band, and eventually we started to get places once our manager got involved, and all the pieces started falling together.  We even made it to Belgium where the great and amazing MJMP came to watch 'lil old me and the boys do our thing!!!!

So basically I been there Rusty, I been there man!  And you know I was honest, didn't screw the system for all I could, I took the basic social security and did what I could with it unlike these benefit fraud cheating bastards littered throughout the country.  But yeah I know what it's like and I'm sure a few other guys on here do too so it was my pleasure.  Just enjoy 'em my man  :thumb-up:

And thanks once again for your tribute, there was no need, but I totally appreciate it.  So I know it all meant something to ya  ;)

Nice to see people still making friends and helping each other up here on the Depot  :thumb-up:

@Kim: I think you already know this, but I sold my bike last summer. I've had bikes all my life, since my dad made the mistake of telling me I could have a dirtbike when I turned 12 (he said that when I was 10 and thought I'd forget - haha!) Dad did the right thing, he picked up a crappy ol' Yamaha YZ80 and we got the damn thing to start when we got it home.

After that, I had bike after bike. All Jap bikes, I was never a Harley guy. My dad had a few (had a Fat Boy too!).

TBH: for the last year or so, something changed for me...I got scared. I had never been scared to ride, but after a few close calls on the road, I was riding so defensively, it wasn't fun. I said goodbye to the bike. Not sure if I'll get another one.

@Rusty: That amp? HOLY SMOKES! I was like....why bother?

Totally get that man, it's a shame, but then riding bikes is dangerous.  My brother has some kind of crazy Bike.  He was never into Bikes and then a few years ago he bought one.  He lives in Germany and has rode from there across Poland and Holland.  When I visited him before, he asked if I wanted to go out on the bike, like on the back.  I said no lol

Me??  I don't even drive   I can operate a car, but I never learned properly or took my test.  I just moved out of my parents when I was 18 and moved close to stuff I needed.  In hindsight having a car for the band stuff would be amazing but hey plenty of time for that!  ;D

@Rusty, so uh what is happening with the zombie amp?  That;s what it equates too

@ RG and Richard,

Yea, that amp was brought to me a few years ago and It’s still here lying in the junk pile.
Me and the guy who brought it to me had a big long outburst of laughter when he asked me “could it be restored ?”

I said to him, Ahhhhh, have you lots of money and can weght about a year or two?

Both of us just busted out laughing again.

It’s next destination is the city dump yard.

Also,

To van Sinn, if you read this.

Sorry if I cracked up with you, I removed that post. I do wish to apologise to you if you can accept it.

This whole corona thing was/is getting on my nerves, all I see on the news is death, quarantine etc, etc, and I’m worried about about it. It’s nothing to be taken lightly I don’t think.

Please do come back though.

Peace.

That's the channel dredger for the river.

I live down on the docks.

And another one,   The cannon was owned by the USA Marine Core when they where stationed here.

And another, owned the the US Marine Core, called 'The Sea Eagle' building.

I sit in my kitchen looking out a my scummy back garden!  Here is what I see.

I'm selling my house so I don't really give a shit what it looks like too much as I wont be staying!  Seen a couple of sparrows getting it on earlier!  Seems to be the season for birds mating!

I'm working every day, we print food cartons (boxes for butter, cups for oatmeal & cereal). In my off time, because I have no band practice or sports right now, I'm tending to my garden. I moved into my house last year, and didn't do anything with the back yard (yet). It's a barren field of weeds. I have a garden every summer, so it was strange not having one last year...thank goodness I have time this year. I built a couple raised beds and bought good dirt from the worm farm, then put another dozen pots on a sheet of black plastic (to kill the weeds).

I'll post some pix later, but I'm growing: Tomatoes, Basil, Carrots, Beets, Green Onions, White Onions, Sweet Peppers, Hot Peppers, Strawberries, and Cucumbers.

Well I'm actually selling my house to get away from my problem neighbour.  It's a really long story.  But basically it started with noise kinda from the day I moved in actually.  It's a complete saga but long story short, he could also be involved in drug dealing and what ever and his unsavoury activities and noise have forced me to sell up.

Basically wanting to move to a detached house so I never have to put up with noise or loud voices sounding like they are right next door (because they are) ever again.  It's shortened my life living in this house.  The stress.  I finally found out how important it is to have sleep and not be disturbed all the time.

Oh and I don't feel safe beside the guy either.  So much unsavoury activity and anti-social shit going on it's unreal.  I gotta get me and my girlfriend out of here so we can get on with our lives!

@Dante, man I'm working too, may be not as hard as you or Kim but I'm working from home (moving a mouse about and taking phone calls and typing )  I work in I.T but I'm f**king now trapped in my kitchen 8 hours a day.

@Rusty man you got some interesting stories.  I wanna know how you ended up in these places and did what you were doing.  You were ina  band right?

Well thanks guys for reminding me I need to do some work in my garden too. Also my wife wants a greenhouse so she can do like Dante, growing some own stuff. Just finished cleaning up my work space and put some insulation in it. But hey it looks a lot cleaner now, even found a ADA B500S stashed under one of my pinballs, wonder  who's it is ( Rnolan  ;D). At work we are almost fully operational again, so no more unemployment for the moment. Still no rehearsals though, I hope soon. I really miss this. Good we have the depot to do some ranting. Nice to see that some of you post some pics, this way you can see some parts of the world, so keep them coming.

Hopefully doin a video for the band site this weekend.  I'll post it up here when I'm done.  Manager says we need to keep a presence through all this and he's right.  It will feature a new track.  I finished all the guitar a while ago but there was a couple of gaping holes in the drum track I had made.  I managed to pull myself together and get it finished so now our manager reckons I should do a video of me playing along to it etc and showing any fans out there we are still alive through all this.

I'll be using my MP1 so will post the track and the video in next day or so.

Currently sat in the kitchen, working from home though so no fun 'till later.

How's everyone going with the lock downs ?  We started to open up here in Australia and now Melbourne has got lots of community transmissions and had to reverse the direction and lock down again.  It's mandatory to wear a mask in Victoria now when you are outside, a first in Australia.  And lots of people are (or have been) flouting the rules  :dunno:  .  Here in Canberra we/they have put further opening up on hold.  It's not too bad depending who you are and what you want to do.
Title: Re: Self Quaranteen Stories

We've been going through somewhat the same.  Restrictions lifted a bit for a time, then set back n place.  The restrictions aren't state-wide here (yet?) but rather as a County by County basis; at least one County has a mask requirement in all public places whereas the rest of the Counties in my State are still a "run what ya brung" thing.  Most major businesses (Walmart, Menards, etc.) are now requiring (from their own corporate management) masks on their property and perhaps rightfully so.   "No Shoes, No Shirt, No Service" policies have expanded to also include "No Mask" in that regard.   In the "Not Required" areas I see about 75% of people in public here with a mask.  Would it help if that % were much closer to 100?  It appears that it depends on who you ask, I suppose.  Another hot topic of debate amongst so many others in these F'd up times....can't discuss anything at all with anyone nowadays without it becoming an escalating argument.   :(

Thankfully, I know of no one within my circle of family and friends who have symptoms or diagnoses but I do know a few people who would be considered "high-risk" and I'd like for them to have a better chance than they do.

Same over here, restictions lifted and 2 weeks later the infections went up again (going from 84/day to 190/day), so not a new lockdown again but we have to wear masks again. Where or what changes  from city to city. Cafe's and restaurants are still open but you need to keep the 1.5m rule, you need to wear a mask all the time except when you eat or drink and stay at your table. Also mandatory to leave your name and phone number for contact tracing.

I stay at home, so no problem for me  ;D

I got a tiller from a friend and dug up a new bed - not raised, just dug it up and mixed in some good soil - it's full of Radishes, with a couple Sweet pepper plants. I have tons of Jalapenos and Red Bell peppers.

They've lifted some restrictions for people here also, way too soon in my opinion and what do you know?  The cases have gone up.  And it's all the people who are down the pub cramming themselves into any bar going.  f**king insane.  In my particular area no one is self distancing or doing anything like that.  Although I hear from my friends that people are still taking precautions where they live.  I guess they're all just idiotic in my area.  The masks thing I have started own my own but it will be made mandatory in shops soon.  Next week I think.  Public transport has forced the mask thing for a while now.

I've done so very little since this whole thing started.  I went to a forest for a walk a few weeks ago and I felt like I was in heaven.  Then walked up a small mountain too and looked out over the city.  That was pretty cool.  No pubs, no restaurants, no cafes, no cinema, no public transport, nothing like that for me.  One band practice so far and another one on Saturday.

Yeah not surprised at all.

It's been a pretty shit summer here weather wise which has been good as it keeps people sensible (well kind of), but like today when the sun is out people lose their shit big time as we spend most of our year cold and wet and of course the lacking in distancing and taking safety measures is actually astounding all because the sun is out and stupid Irish people and UK people just go daft (that's stupid for anyone who doesn't know).

I already learnt today of a whole pile of places that have it (bars and restaurants) and three counties in the Rep of Ireland that have went back into lockdown.  I have zero tolerance for these people being stupid, it's not over by a long shot and if they want to be stupid that's fine but so long as it's not putting me a risk.

Thankfully on Monday they introduce masks as mandatory in shops.  Looking forward to the fuss this creates

No problem for me, I'm willing to do whatever it takes to keep me a little safer whether its really much use or not.

If you get the shot(s), you won't catch it. You may however, pass it along to someone else unknowingly (so they recommend keeping a mask on).

Hey RG, jabs are just starting here, I expect most will get their first shot over the next couple of months.  Fortunately we pretty much got on top of it here so there is less need to rush.  All the cases are returned travelers in hotel quarantine, though it has got out a few times via cleaners and security guards.  I went to Sydney last weekend for the first time in over a year and we've been back in the office for a while now.

Yeah I got mine a couple weeks back.  I get the booster in about another 7-8 weeks.

Moving quite quickly here.  I only got mine so early as in the last few years I was diagnosed with asthma so that bumped me up a little on the priority list.  Personally I was surprised to be called by my Dr but there you go.  I would happily have waited until other had theirs.  I've been behaving and only coming in contact I guess with people in the supermarket.

I was told I might feel side effects, and I would be lying if I didn't tell you I felt like shit the next day, like I was getting a flu.  However I was fine the day after that.  Some people have had real bad effects but only for a day or two.

Good to hear you got you jab also Dante.

That's good to hear.  I dunno if they were on top of it here or not, I guess that needs defined.  I know it was ape shit on the figures after Christmas where I am as you would expect.  Other countries I know were doing ok initially all had their run of getting hit bad so I'm not sure who really is on top and who isn't.   Thought New Zealand where on top of their for example but didn't they have a lockdown begin about 2 weeks ago after a big boxing match was over?

I know what you mean Dante,

When I was in the Navy, aboard the USS Independence, we were going to make a port visit to Mauritius. Three weeks before we got there, we got the malaria vaccine, and the whole crew was on Quinine tablets up until a week after we left there.

I'm well aware that anyone could have the virus and not know it, and can be passing it along to everyone they get close enough to. That's why I've been keeping to myself. Reported cases of it in NE Ohio have been up and down, and back up again, because generally here, people are pretty careless about it. I wear my mask anytime I have to leave the house, and for the last month or so, I've been double-masking when I go to a supermarket and places like that.

Since I don't have a family physician, I don't know when or if I might get a notice to get jabbed, so I'm playing it close to the vest.

My sister got the low-grade fever, feeling like crap for a day or so, after her second shot. I hear that's common with the Moderna vaccine.

I'm honestly used to wearing the mask now, feels weird when I don't have one on outside or in a public place. No worries there. People who make a big fuss out of it need to grow the hell up. I get weird looks wearing a mask in some rural spots where they simply act like nothing ever happened  but I wear my mask(s) proudly, knowing I'm not passing it along to my elderly dad or my immuno-compromised friends (I have two close friends that need me to be careful).

That said, I'd really like to go to a show again, or play one :/ I have a plan to get a bunch of friends together who have all gotten the vaccine, and fill a bar with them. That would be a great party

I aint got my booster yet, another 7 weeks I think.  Hopefully I don't feel like shit again like the first one.

I personally have no issues wearing a mask either.  I know some people have a bee up their ass as they feel like their freedom is being taken away from them but I really don't know how many names I can call these people that are insulting .  In principal I understand what they mean but it's on a such a small level and isn't it supposed to be to help are fellow men and woman?  Even if their is contradictory evidence? And really who is free anyways apart people living in remote parts of the earth.  Everyone is a slave to their government but hey enough of that!

True enough Gerry!

Still, there will always be those rebellious malcontents who will always take the opposite position when they are told there is something they have to do, or not do.
They don't really have a good reason, they just do it for the sake of argument.
It's not a nice thing to say, but if people like that get the virus and kick the bucket, I won't feel the least bit sorry for any of them.

Yes well naturally I am a rebel (no not the one with the confederate flag ) so I get this, but then there has to be sense to when you choose to be rebellious or now.  And a global pandemic isn't something I'm gonna mess with.  I'm gonna do what I'm told because I don't want people dying and I respect the situation and advice I'm being given.

As you said though, I personally have no sympathy for anyone who gets it, doesn't make it and it's because they were wreckless or flippant about the whole situation.  Kind pisses me off seeing people not wearing masks in the super market when ever there is a sign outside saying "people without a mask will not be permitted to enter".  Sure some people have medical reasons but there are always some douche bags!!

Anyways I just hope everyone is doing their best and looking after themselves  :thumb-up:

The recently just started relaxing shit where I am, typically I will have no part in it simply because all these idiots go ape shit as the flood gates open and it makes more sense to wait for the rush to end.  I've no intention of going out to bar anytime soon to be honest.  I get my second jab next week as well so that will give me a confidence boost as well.  Still working at home too!

I've got a co-worker screaming about not being able to get his shot, yet he won't wear a mask   I told him just how hypocritical that is.

I got my double shot, over 2 weeks ago, I'm good. HOWEVER, I still wear a mask everywhere, so as not to infect others while I unknowingly carry it on me...

I have an acoustic gig on Saturday (outside).

I have a friend like that, almost.  He won't go get the shot, and he won't wear a mask. He has his own automotive repair shop, which I feel puts him at a high risk for the virus. I wear my mask around him if I have to go to his shop, and I don't care for his opinions about it. I don't feel the risk is worth it.

Whelp, my gig last Saturday was a 'fun' show...got moved INDOORS. In a bar (meaning a closed room) in a very full restaurant. Wait staff had masks, but none of the patrons..because...eating/drinking.

It's like nothing ever happened. I was shocked. We have let up a lot of restrictions, but I'm pretty sure what I was part of is not allowed yet. But, it was very full...and a bit unnerving.

I was a distance from the crowd, but really, we're all in the same room. It wouldn't matter how far away I stood.

Gig went well, aside from a bit of singer drama (a bit more than usual, tbh). People were sure ready to see some music, very supportive and singing along. Tip jar was good too, on top of the gig pay.

Glad I'm all shot up

Hey Dante,

Sounds like it went well, all things aside.
I wouldn't have done it indoors, but then again, I haven't gotten jabbed yet either, so I'm not planning any gigs until I do.
           That's just me.

I watched a boxing match last Saturday at the Dallas Cowboys stadium and corner men had masks on as did referees and yet the whole crowd did not?  I dunno what to make of that.

Anyways I got my final jab yesterday, no side affects this time other than a sore arm.  Which is bearable.  Last time I felt like I had the flu for 24hrs.

That's all I got when I received the second shot, a very sore arm. Much more sore than the first time. It was a little itchy at the vaccination site for a few days, not terribly, but yeah.

I expected the worst, so I bought a bunch of soup, gatorade, juice, fruits and veggies...just in case.

I'm holding out for the Pfizer vaccine. That seems to be the one that most people find tolerable.

 so far so good!  :thumb-up:

Ok, Ok it did worry me when that news came out but I know the numbers a very low.  1 in 17million I was told the other day because I asked this time.  The first jab I had was before any negative cases had appeared on the scene!  This time my 2nd jab comes 4 days after they announce in the UK they aint giving it to anyone else under the age of 40!!!  So I had to ask since I'm 38.  The nurse told me they aint mixing vaccines yet so because I started the course I needed to complete it using the same vaccine so here I am double jabbed with AZ.  I will be still following the guidelines as recommended even if I have jabs.

Also it didn't worry me that much or else I would not have got the 2nd one, I know people not taking the 2nd jab.  A friend of mine said he thinks it has given him tinnitus.  Did he never stop to think it might be listening to music too loud?  Anyways he can think that if he likes.  90% protection is better than none right?

I live in Alberta Canada. Its a joke here. Lots of small business can't afford to stay open.

Here in Europe they kicked astrazeneca out because they didn't keep up with the delivery's they promised. Over here it's mostly pfizer now. My wife got astra about 6 weeks ago, she got vaccinated early because because she works in healthcare. I still have to wait at least 3 to 4 weeks. It's painfully slow over here. Only 32% of the Belgian population has gotten 1 shot, 10% is fully vaccinated.

Yeah there was a lot of politically motivated shit in mainland Europe over astrazeneca.  I think it'd dumb they kicked them out, more the better right?  and better late than never.  At least your wife got jabs, so that's something.  Yeah even the non-at-risks are getting their first jabs at least over here.  My fiancé got hers last week as the age 30-35 group is eligible now.  I hope they speed things up fr you in Belgium man I really do.

Yes it's the same here regarding that.  Lots of people have no jobs anymore.  Thankfully moving a mouse around and typing on a keyboard saved my ass from that!

I'm not sure if you mean things we didn't need to buy or things we did need, but have been putting off.

I have bought a lot of things I needed to get in order to restore various items to good working order, like my car for example, which I do all the work myself, except for anything that requires the car to be on a lift. I don't own one of those.

I have bought various NUX and Fender pedals for pedal boards I had already committed to building before covid hit. And I did buy a new desktop PC to use for my DAW, to get my studio working a bit better since Microshaft stopped supporting Windows 7 at the beginning of last year. Plus my recent purchase of a bass guitar.

As for things I didn't need to buy, well I bought another ADA S-1000 and a 256i because they were offered at a very good price, and I am presently looking at a TFX-4 that is going for a decent price as well. None of these things I need, because I already own a lot of gear that does the same thing these units do, but I am a devotee of ADA and have been for decades.

That pretty much covers what I bought throughout the pandemic.

Yes. Not that there's anything wrong with that. Each 'stimulus check' bought something for guitar playing.

I bought some stuff, but also sold some stuff.  I should really get to selling the rest while selling is still decent.

Fully vaccinated now, and have a few dates lined up over the summer.  Not positive I actually want to play out anymore, fairly positive I don't want to haul my 1/2 stack, but going to give it a try anyway.   They are one off dates so if I don't want to do it, nothing making me continue.   :D

Just when we were doing so well there's another outbreak, Melbourne again, they can't catch a trick down there  .  So one guy catches the Indian strain (highly infectious and virulent, much worse than the UK strain) while in hotel quarantine in Adelaide, they think from opening the door to get food at the same time as the infected person in the next room.  He finishes his quarantine and goes to Melbourne, a couple of days later there are 120 possible infection sites and 15,000 close contacts (i.e. contact of the contacts etc.)  One infected contact went to the football (Australian Rules) at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG)....  So now Melbourne is back in lockdown.

I hear you Richard,

Here where I am in Ohio, the Governor is going to lift the mandatory mask requirement, and I believe he is being a bit pre-mature about it. There are still a lot of active cases of Covid here, not to mention the large number of people who still haven't been vaccinated, yet, and those fools who have refused to get the vaccine. They've already started some of the live band shows outdoors as of today.

I have a feeling the cases are going to go on the rise again here and we'll all end up on lock down again.

It's alright. I still plan to keep wearing a mask in public places until the cases of the virus are down low enough to where we aren't at risk anymore.

Over here the numbers are really going down but I guess they will go up again after the 9th of June when they will release some of the actions taken. We do still have to wear a mask. In Belgium it's now the teenagers that have the most infections. Vaccinations are going a lot better now, we are at 40% partially vaccinated and about 17% fully vaccinated. They want to get everybody vaccinated once by Juli 11th but I doubt that's going to happen by that time. It seems pfizer and astra will slow down deliveries.
Good thing is I get my first vaccination on the July 7th and the second one 5 weeks later (pfizer).
