Happy to be here. I'm Sean, but everybody calls me Snake or Snakey. I've been a guitar player for about 35 years, and even though I "grew up" as a hard rock and metal player in the early-mid 80's, I never owned any rack gear. Back then, I was too poor, and then it was out of style.
I recently have been on a buying spree of sorts, picking up a late 80's HSS Charvel 375 Deluxe, and some rack stuff. I had a Rocktron Chameleon offered to me in trade with a Randall RRM 2-80, and I dug it, and about the same time, I was given an Alesis Quadraverb GT. The Rocktron sounds a lot better than the Alesis, but all of that reignited an old lust for an MP-1, which of course was the preamp of choice for a lot of guys whose tone I liked back then.
I found a good condition 1.38 version MP-1 on Reverb, and it should be winging its way to me even now.

Looking forward to learning about these units as well as of course playing it.

Thanks,

Sean

Hi Sean,

    Welcome to the Depot

You found the right place for any information on the MP-1, or any other ADA gear for that matter, and we're always here.
Hopefully, your MP-1 will be in good working order when you get it, but as is true with all tube gear, you'll probably be looking for a pair of fresh tubes for it. It might benefit you to check out the threads on tubes here, and see who likes what tubes and why. That might help you make a choice you'll like right out of the starting gate~

I only have two brain cells left, ...and I'm saving them for the weekend!

Thanks, Harley! I've been working on my own guitars and amps for a couple of decades, so I'm not afraid to fire up a soldering iron, if necessary, and I've got lots of tubes around, though I will definitely check out the tubes threads.

Hey Snakey, welcome to the depot    Where you using the Quadverb as an effects unit ? or a preamp ?.  I use an original QV in my rack but it just does 4 Fxs at once.
Cheers R

Welcome Snake!

Tie yourself to a strong rope and secure it somewhere: you'll loose yourself in this place!

A first suggestion: use MP-1 in a full stereo rig!  :headbanger:
