Title: volume on recording tracks
Post by: El Chiguete on April 18, 2014, 08:12:08 PM
So how do you guys set your volume when recording? Let me explain, do you:

a) use the same patch settings as when playing live (the lead patches with higher volume)
b) set everything at same leven and then raise or lower the volume using the recording software

Also, do you guys notice a real difference on tone/dynamics with a low vs high volume setting?

Typically I'll use 'studio' settings for recording.
Based on the live setting these are sounds that have a little less gain and a little less bass.

This so I can piling multiple parts without it becoming fizz or boom fest  :nono:

I use my stage patches as is and use the MP2 cab sim outs, watching out for digital clipping on the record inputs... Not as forgiving as tape.
