I need some advice! A friend just gave me his Mp-1 because mine was recently stolen along with a whole rack of other gear. The battery is dead and it appears to be soldered to the little clip on the top and on the bottom. Is there some nifty little trick to getting the battery out without damaging the board?

Well the easiest way is to heat up one end and pull the pin out, then do the same thing with the other side. Then use some solderbraid to clean out the solder, get a CR2032 battery and a 2032 battery holder and solder the holder in.This way it's a lot easier to replace it.

Thank you very much. The holder idea is much appreciated. I was just about to change it out and decided to see if I had a response here first. Good suggestion.
