I think my Classic has Psychosis

Ok, so one of my Classics has just started acting up. Everything seemed fine until i decided to go back and forth between my mp-2, mp-1 and my other classic, then back to the mentally unwell preamp. All of a sudden it started to clip on clean an ss settings. Red lights flashing all over the gaff either when i played a lick or a chord and the vol shot up tenfold. Yep it started to hear it's own voices and not the bloody tube ones as it is supposed to :dunno: However on tube Dist settings everything works fine as it should. This thing needs help before it has a complete nervous breakdown!

Just found that i had a spare set of tubes lying around. Popped them in and hey presto. Job done, everything seems back to normal :whoohoo!:

What looks curious is that you mentioned SS issues...and no issues at all with Tube Dist...
But, ehi...if it worked fine, you did the job! :thumb-up:

That's a good point. Yep it was still clipping on SS settings, but seems fine now. I'll keep an eye on it as it could well be something else causing the issue. It's recently been serviced but of course these preamps are getting on a bit and anything could go wrong at any given time.
