Setting myself up for failure

So, we had a gig last weekend and I did everything I could to thwart the whole show. Not intentionally, I just had too much other stuff on my mind and f'ed up.

I forgot to bring the following:

  • My mic stand
  • A guitar pick (had a dozen or so on my other pedal board)
  • Speaker cable (still had the combo amp, so not a deal breaker)
  • The iPad for controlling the mix (still have a mixer, controlled it that way)
  • The iPod for music between sets (used my phone)
  • The Wifi Router for connecting the mixer/cpu/iPods & iPads for each band members' mix (used my phone as a hotspot)

OH...but my gold LED shoes were totally charged up - PRIORITIES

Luckily, I got there early enough that I could run home and grab most of the stuff I needed. It left me short on time and I had no opportunity to try out my IEMs until the next day. We rocked a great gig and the crowd was decent sized - enough to get us pumped to play.

Chucky

I'm with you on this!!

I've been quite disturbed also lately...Between my home renovations that sucks most of my time and energy.
Preparations to leave for Bulgaria in a few weeks.
All the consequential things that come with the fact that you are changing country (For an unknown amount of time).
...
And since I got some new gear I absolutely want to try, I totally dove in and change things around.
I've been basically playing with the same set-up for the last 20 years with very minor changes.
Mostly my Rozon all-tube preamp coupled with my old trusty MP-1.
Pretty much the same few pedals too... XP100 Whammy, DOD wah and an old MXR Flanger.
The only things that got changed around that were the controllers/multi effects unit and power amp/amp devices.

So I made the jump a few weeks ago.
Included the DualKlonz as the main tone generator and amp.
Using a Suhr Riot and a modded Voodoo Lab Sparkle Drive to kick up the amp at times...
Modifying the patches on my G-System in less than an hour and going on live with no serious trial period.

It went pretty well actually!
And what a breath of fresh air getting new tones and different reactions from the gear behind you.
Of course there are spots where you feel you don't get the expected results.
But getting kicked out of your comfort zone brings so much thrill and freshness...

Twas about time I shook my tree a bit that way.  O0
EMGs suck my energies.
