Title: I remember this one time...
Post by: Dante on February 28, 2014, 10:02:15 PM
When we recorded on 2" tape in a studio in Santa Cruz. The band was called Go Figure... (I may have one of these recordings somewhere-no guarantees)

There was a 5 foot bong waterpipe behind the drum baffles, in the corner. The bong worked very well  :banana-rasta:

That's a pretty large water pipe Dante, need lungs like a scuba diver  8) . Was it 2" 16 track or 24 track ? (obviously the 16 track is a better format but more limiting).  I'd like to get a decent old 1" Studer valve mastering deck to use for mixing/dithering, I sometimes use my Nakamitchi cassette deck as it warms the sound and doesn't require the additional bits to be sent to the bit bucket to get it back to crap CD format (44.1khz, 16 bit) or even worse MP3.  Also some of the (old) tape mastering machines go out to 80khz, not flat but they go there and you get all that lovely sum and difference to give your recording air.

I thought it was 32...but maybe just 24. I really wasn't paying much attention after finding the bong
