....never quite happy with how things stand, I recently recorded a pair of new experimental guitar tracks, with this one being my favorite of the two:
https://soundcloud.com/#phrygiandom/black-winter
I guess I would classify it as "Symphonic Metal" of sorts. The rhythm guitars come in after the string intro.
Additionally, I will be providing a companion "Anatomy of a song" video that details everything that went into creating this particular track. This will include structure, amp settings, drums, mic techniques/placement, EQ'ing, mixing & mastering.
I'm by NO means a recording "expert", but i have figured out a thing or two along the way. If anyone's interested, please send me a private message.

Nicely done - I like the "wall" of sound from the guitar(s) . . .
I have a couple of questions when you have time:
Is your MP2 modded and what tubes are in it ?
thanks -
Hey DaveM, tried the URI (https://soundcloud.com/#phrygiandom/black-winter), got a join me up screen...??
So can't listen yet ?
Me too
I've encountered this problem with Soundcloud before...and i don't have a solution. I've heard that refreshing the screen can sometimes help. You can also try: http://soundcloud.com/phrygiandom/black-winter Other than that, the only other thing i can suggest is doing a search for Black Winter on the Soundcloud homepage.
The other track, also along the same lines but with different samples, is "Playtime":

I used my Mark-IV for the rhythm guitars. My MP-2 is unmodded, with what I believe are JJ tubes. Though I don't utilize the MP-2 for recording metal rhythm guitars, I DO have a really nice patch that sounds very "Rectifier-ish".
use this URL and you get to Dave's page with all the music there.
