ADA 2fx Chorus
« on: Time Format »

Hey all!

How does the chorus on the 2fx rate compared to the chorus in the MP-1?

I've never heard the unit, and there's a mix and a dry out, so not really stereo, but seems like it would get that sort of phased inverted thing the MP-1 does...

Let me know what you think!

Hi Adam,

I have one of those and the Chorus is just as thick and lush as the MP-1, depending on how you dial it in, and where you set your mix level at.

It won't be the same as the MP-1 chorus when it comes to stereo, but it does sound good.I use it for the flanger which is really good.

Thanks, fellas!

That's all great info to know!

I might have to try one out... LUSH is exactly what I'm looking for...  on the hunt for that ever elusive analog chorus sound... found an old DOD R-880 Delay and dying for a chorus version... the delay is dark and rich and ugly...

Hey Adam,

If it's the chorus you're looking for, then you can also look at the S-1000, the "i" series delays, and the Digitizer 4. All three of these can produce the same lush chorus effect, but I believe they have a little better fidelity than the 2FX.
I don't know why that is, but my 2FX, can produce all the great effects that the other ADA processors can, but for some unknown reason, there seems to be a little bit of a drop in the fidelity of the guitar tone.
Technically, there shouldn't be any difference between any of them since they are all operating at 12Khz, but the 2FX sounds like it might be operating at 10Khz.
When I used it with my MP-1 in the loop by itself, it didn't sound bad at all, but if I added any of the above mentioned delays to the chain, then I can hear the difference.
   Just saying...

I looked it up and the effect bandwidth is;

S1000:20Hz to 10kHz
D series:20Hz to 15kHz
i-series:20Hz to 16kHz
Digitizer:20Hz to 16kHz
2FX:20Hz to 17kHz

The big advantage of the 2fx is that you can use the chorus/flanger with the delay while the with the others you can use only one effect.

I can't find any audio clips on Youtube of the 2fx...

Any leads?  (see what I did there?)   :waving-banana-smiley-emoticon
