discovered the power of the eq

Ok so I thought id tinker with this 31 band ibanez 3101 eq I have to see what eqs can do as far as sound goes and wholy crap completely opened up the sound. Theres wayyyy too many dials on this thing and I did read that its too much for guitar and to be honest I only basics of eq not to this detail. Anyway I can say this setting sounded pretty brutal

now a friend advised to get a ada mq1 or a tc 1128 as tney are midi programmable.. any suggestions for live use. My replifex has eq though it disnt sound nearly as good aa the old ibanez. Not sure why .. it sounded too digital and I was running in series. Ive bought the art splitmix mixer as suggested by rnolan for parallel fx for my preamps that have no loop.. waiting for it to arrive.

but looks like an eq is what Ive been looking for!!!

Ok my splitter works wel though I rrad theres a typical 12db insertion loss which I didnt know. Not sure how much loss I have because I cant crank it and compare. Though it does work well and mix well and I was able to use an output to my tuner with no loss. I should mention my ada mp1 is not in this rig just my soldano pre cauae thats my flavour at the moment. Im guessing my wah should stay as per normal guitar in and out rather than mixing like the above mentioned. Ill try and see. So far pretty cool for the price and no complications.

I use the SplitMix and i am very satisfied with the result. It's a tidy little unit isn't it? The 12db loss will be because it's totally passive. The beauty of that is that it doesn't introduce any noise. I doubt that I will ever not have enough left in the tank to compensate for the loss. I love that I can run the mp1 in all its analogue glory AND have my digital effects.

rnolan:
Hey GB are you running it with tip/ring/sleeve (TRS stereo jack) to 2 x tip/sleeve (mono jacks) to keep it all stereo ?

can totally confirm that.. I can hear the difference the effects sound better and cleaner. I have an input and output knob on my rocktron so I can compensate the loss. I need to do more testing at louder volumes but pretty happy.

Im running mono until I try some stereo connections.  yet to try it with my mp1 but once again agrre.. tidy little unit.. now where to mount it!! ..might use some velcro and sit it at the bottom.
